We have an update for you, Mayors. An update about our next Update, in fact – this Monday, April 22 starting at 1pm PST we’ll be releasing Update 2.0, which contains a number of top-requested bug fixes and improvements. Here’s the full list of changes included in the Update:

What’s New

• Mayors Mansion: Mayors will now drive their fancy cars to work. Mayors will take their helicopter, limo, or sports car if the modules are present.
• HUD: Now color-corrects when in a colorblind mode.
• Data map: Data maps show the filtered color when a color filter is enabled (unless in a colorblind mode)

Fixes and Updates

• Cities not Processing: Mitigates some of the issues that were causing cities not to process. We are continuing to work on and improve this issue.
• Region Filters: Now sorts regions with available cities to the top
• Invitations: Invitations to join a region should be sent and received more quickly.
• Tourism: Fixes for unexplained fluctuation of tourists. Tourists more smartly counted on transit.
- Cruise ships are now more effective at bringing medium and high wealth tourists in coastal cities.
- New tourists will now decide to come into a city once leaving tourists reach train stations, bus depots, or cruise ship docs instead of waiting for those tourists to go out to the region first.
- This change will reduce the downtime of tourist buildings.
• Casinos: Casinos tuned so that Gambling will be a more profitable specialty. Players can bulldoze and replace existing casinos to see effects of tuning.
- The larger casinos now invite more tourists into the city which helps keep them full.
- Note that existing casinos will need to be replaced to take advantage of this change.
• More Casinos: Raised module limit on Sci-Fi and Sleek Casinos to 6 modules.
• Region Play: Cash gifts can now be received in a bankrupt city.
• Education: Fixed school buses getting stuck at the high school. Existing Schools will fix themselves.
• Education: Fixed school buses picking up students at neighboring cities that didn’t have school bus stops.
• Education: Fix to more accurately track regional student population.
• Education: Fix where kids leaving the school bus stop would teleport to the nearest pedestrian path instead of walking directly into the school.
• Education: University wings now give the proper bonus.
• Recycling: Fix for the Recycling Center where it would sometimes stop working, recycling services will visit other cities.
• Air pollution: Fixed issue where air pollution would appear to come from nowhere. Fix issues where your regional air pollution would be reflected back into your box for a double penalty.
• Fire Service: Fire Trucks don’t clump, dispatch to fires more efficiently.
• Water: Water pumps are now capable of pumping water from rivers at a larger radius so they can take better advantage of the water table in a city.
• Disasters: Cooldown for random disasters: Some players were getting hit too frequently with random disasters, this introduces a cooldown where no random disasters will occur.
• Trade: Fix for trade ports that suddenly stop shipping.
• Transit: Street Cars and Buses go to high volume stops first.
• Transit: A city with residents and public transit will now provide the accurate amount of workers and shoppers to its neighbors.
• Transit: A transit vehicle stuck in a pick-up or drop off loop will now go back to a garage instead of trying to pick up more people.
- Transit vehicles should recover automatically after the update. If players want to force the recovery, turn off the stops that are having looping issues, wait a few game hours, then turn them back on.
• Transit: Neighbors buses will now come in lower numbers into the city and do a better job at picking up local passengers first.
• Residential Tuning: Residential-only cities have failure state.
- Buildings are prevented from going up in density when they don’t have power or water.
- The amount of happiness gained from low taxes, police, fire, and health outreach has been lowered.
- Fixed some cases where buildings would not go abandoned when they should have.
- Higher density residential buildings are no longer blocked from going abandoned due to not having enough money.
- Happiness from low taxes does not double up every time it is given.
- Losing happiness due to not having a job is more impactful.
• Budgets: Fixed bug that prevented systems like fire, abandonment, garbage, and sewage from turning on when they were supposed to.
• Audio: Fixes issue where audio will stop working after creating a large city or where phantom audio sounds play in a city.
• Demolish: Fixes issue that occurred when players demolished buildings that had service vehicles, delivery vehicles, or agents out in the city or region. Previously, the agents would be in a state of limbo and would not recover when new buildings of that type were placed. This will no longer happen.

Because this is our first significant Update, we wanted to inform you in advance that we’ll be taking down all servers for a few hours while these changes are being issued. Choosing a time to issue a major Update is never easy, but after looking our peak player time, we’ve concluded 1pm PST is the best window for us to make these improvements. As you can see from the list above, the wait will be worth it.

Thanks, Mayors!

So this Monday Simcity will finally become the best Simcity evah evah ever.

Edit:

• Audio: Fixes issue where audio will stop working after creating a large city or where phantom audio sounds play in a city.

Yes..because this is what people have been clamouring for..

Remove the only way to get a decent population..

I don't see anything in there about fixing the fake sims, increasing the map size, or offline play so still a no-sale..

Yes.

There are lots of fixes which should make the game "harder".
No more ghost workers from neighbors cities, less happiness from services, more abandonment, ...

The game is quite too easy right now, the more fun experience I had is from my crazy mountain "city" where I had hard time to manage this ridiculous amount of space.
So these fixes are welcome but I can imagine some "facebook" players will whine big time because their cities will not perform as before Laughing

Next week should be fun Very Happy

They simply can't ignore the increase of map size request, you can almost see this request in any post on the official forum/tweet ^^
I just hope they will provide this for free and not for a ridiculous 15€ DLC ...

Anyways, I am looking forward to test this update Monday.
Yes I will launch this game again.

Fuck Yeah

Yes.

The knobs applied a patch that has been tested by knobs for the past month, and the knobs still couldn't get it right, why? Because they are knobs.

There was people complaining about the patch while it has been out for only 10 minutes.
Trolololololololol.

After some gameplay with Jarlian (NFOHump#5, new post 2.0 region) :

Actually the game is better in some areas :
- Firetrucks are fucking finally smart enough to manage multiple fires,
(I had a disaster which started 4 fires on the same road, 2 Jarlian's and 2 of mine managed the thing simultaneously)
- Depot/delivery trucks seems to do their job just fine,
(I have 4 full upgraded mines (120t/day) with only 3/4 trucks each with no delivery issue at all, before even with 4 trucks there were issues with full storage blackout sometimes)
- The game is bit harder (as I expected), more air pollution (from indus, traffic,... ), less happiness when things are not done correctly. And this is welcome.
- I saw less buses and they seems to do their job fine, even if they still follow each other occasionally.
- Not a single crash or rollback so far.

Unfortunately, the game is still broken in other areas :
- Traffic is still unmanageable past 200K sims (not a bug, it's logical : metro needed !),
- Ingame chat is slow/buggy as hell,
- Resources sharing is still buggy too, Jarlian bought around 300MW power from me and it doesn't show up in the export/financial report nor in my UI.
On his side it worked fine and get the power though.
- Network is weird also, sometimes region's log and friend's status are out of sync.
- Firetrucks still don't overpass traffic on single lane roads.

That is what I can say for now.
I can't relate about tousrism and other thing right now, I played with my old pre 2.0 tourims city but I experienced some old recycling/buses/casino bug.
So I thought, better start a new city from scratch, EA should have tell everyone to start from scratch with v2.0 but I guess it would have turned into a Nukewar on the forum Very Happy

Most people were complaining about their old cities aren't fixed, no more easy money/happiness, or too much pollution.
I had intentionally put my industrial area in order that wind blew bad air over my residential zone : germs everywhere.
Moved indus away : after some time and sanitary vans work : fixed.

The money problem happen if you develop your city too fast, putting all services when you have the cash without watching your balance isn't a good idea.
Also map size urge you to choose between either a low residential but specialized (Mines, Fuel, tourism, ...) city or a high populated neutral city.
You simply will fail trying to make both in the same "mini"map.
Jarlian did an almost 300K citizens city and had a positive +1500$/h city balance
I did a mining city with 30K citizens and a negative -6000$/h city balance but exporting for around 500K$ a month.

So too make it short:
Someone telling you the game is fully broken and unplayable is just a Troll.
Someone telling you the game is now perfect with 2.0 thank you so much EA/MAXIS ! is simply a damn fanboy.

So is Simcity still a scam ?
- yes if you bought/buy it at 60 or 80€ (I understand the anger from customers here)
- no, if you got/get a key for 30€ and got the free "apologise" game

But hey, let people complain on the official forum, who knows if we won't get a second free game as "post v2.0" compensation Laughing

Anyway, I still had fun playing this shit with Jarlian Smile

You have a point here.

But in my eyes the games is still playable, and is not more broken than some other games (at launch) I played.

If I would have paid 80€ for the deluxe shit edition, then yes I would be mad and screaming like a baby.
Thats why I said I understand complaining customers if they actually paid the full price.

Yeah but you have to understand that most people who buy the cheap version dont have much money to spent, so their 30 euro is for them like 80 euro. I would be pissed in any situation.

For example you buy a new car without any extra options, and it doesnt work, you expect to get the same service as someone who bought it with all the options.

+100

Totally agree with you guys. Paid 45 euro's for it. Now got my free game also so that makes a little compensation but anyway, its useless to continue development on current SimCity. Create a new one from scratch, will take a long time, but hey! give the people who bought this one besides the free game, 50%/75% discount on the new one.

EA makes alot of money from people that don't actually have it. They won't make any loss on creating a new SC and discount us..

Nice read m8. Couldn't agree more.

The ghost sims isn't a major flaw. Altough it's a "cheap" way to pretend your small block is a gigantic city, it does not make the game unplayable in any way.

The bad AI is the big problem here indeed. Sims having to look for work, a house and shops every day is just plain ridiculous. I think that's the main reason why they can't build bigger cities. Sims running around with their heads up their arses makes managing traffic a living hell. If they drive the same route (or have a constant destination and start point) you can predict where traffic will occur and work around it. All you can do now is build so many roads that no traffic will exist. And still, they managed to leave it unfixed as seen below. Restarting the city will remove errors like this, but with 300k "sims" it can ruin your total balance if overlooked. In the short movie posted you can see all my police cars stuck in some traffic jam. People complain about crime, leave their houses and pay no taxes.

But still, it's fun to play together and help neighbouring mayors.
