its not much of a sequel Smile its more likely standalone expansion or Dead Island 1.5
Quote:
“Dead Island: Riptide is the next instalment in the Dead Island franchise but it is not the sequel to Dead Island.” States Anthony Cardahi, Creative Producer at Deep Silver, when discussing the advances being made with the upcoming second Dead Island title. “We wanted to provide more ‘Dead Island’ to players relatively fast and also to continue the story where we had left off, so it made sense to use the same – but improved – engine as Dead Island. The core mechanics are the same and a lot of things are familiar.”

Even after a dozen hours I struggled to tell at a glance what was worth picking up or discarding, which is bad news in a game that's mostly about picking through litter.

Yeah, opening the menu and consulting the recipes is just too hard lol wut

Besides you can almost endlessly collect any item involved on recipes, and the weapon characteristics/colors are pretty clear so you can know what to keep and what to discard so... what the fuck is this guy talking about? Confused

Maybe we can check already if there's something like that planned. Smile

EDIT: There's not that much info available yet.

EDIT: Wow, right after the above post about the preload fix.
(I was thinking of various development branches and beta entries but I guess nothing is available until the game goes live tomorrow.)

I was checking the Steam website earlier trying to find the different unlock times but it seems there's just two, Tuesday 23rd (America) or Friday 26th (Europe).

http://store.steampowered.com/app/216250/?cc=se
(3 days and 11 hours.)

http://store.steampowered.com/app/216250/?cc=us
(17 hours.)

That Info is only available to the game owners, and after release date it's available for everyone. However you can grab that info it with TINcft.

There was a patch few hours ago and public build id was changed from 53031 to 61133.
this is the latest log, go to the end of it for the branches:

Ah I see so that's how it works, oh and it's nice to see there's a patch ready. Smile

EDIT:

Yeah the Asia and Australia times were identical to the US unlock time with this game.

EDIT: Checked the \depotcache folder and now the earlier 216251_depotcache_1.csd archive which contains the game data (And hasn't changed since the preload started.) has a 216251_depotcache_2.csd (patch?) addition dated today and 216259_depotcache_1.csd which I assume is the binaries.
(Game exe, redistributable files and such stuff.)

(Main archive is around 3.5 GB but that's compressed, Steam showed it as a 6 GB download initially so I assume that's what it will be when unpacked.)

It seems like they did the same bloody mistakes they did in the first one. Modding will work again, sure, but I'm sick of games requiring you to mod them to hell and back in order to be even "fine". The UI in general seems better, but they still use that absolutely pointless compass that takes too much amount of space for too little practicality. Also, that stupid stance icon and stamina bar... will probably make a HUD mod again if I'm trying the game, but just for me and probably with much less tweaking. At least the graphics seem to be cleaner, when in the first one you had to disable so much crap... I don't know about the gameplay, but it doesn't seem to be at least on the level of the Director's Cut mod, which probably means I will find it really boring again. And yeah, that idiotic respawning again. It's like they're not even trying. Sure, don't fix what isn't broken, but it is in this case.

Looks like TB also didn't even notice the setting to turn voice chat on/off under the 'online' options section since he was complaining it couldn't be disabled.

read some of those - main problems are pretty similar what first game had, some bugs and mainly that ist pretty much the same as DI (which devs said from announcment that its not DI2 , but ACB-like stuff), i am pretty sure they are already working on full fledged DI2 next to Project Hell
