http://news.sky.com/story/1075086/facebook-new-charges-for-sending-messages

Quote:
Facebook is to charge users up to £10 a time to contact people outside of their friends' network.

The social networking site is likely to charge between 70p and £10 to message people who are not "friends" - with the top price reserved for contacting celebrities.

Facebook says it is introducing the payments to prevent spam being sent to users of the network.

However, some analysts fear that it marks the start of what will become a more entrenched payment scheme for the social media site.

Currently users can message anyone who uses the website for free. However, messages to non-friends go to the "other" email box and are treated as spam.

But these latest changes will allow users to pay to prioritise their emails, sending them directly to the main inbox of their prospective friends.

And the best bit is this....

Quote:
However, a feature that allowed users to contact the most high profile celebrities (including Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg), for a fee of $100, was abandoned.

What a fucking prick who the fuck is this goon, why on earth would i want to message this prick for 100 dollars hahahha go fuck yourself biaatttchhh!

I don't use FB but it doesn't sound that bad on paper Cool Face
I mean, if you're not my friend and I don't want you in my circle there must be a reason. And if you do intend to annoy me with constant messages that I never asked for, you can do it..at your expense! Laughing

Yeah i agree with that ixi as you do get some shit sometimes or others do.
But just say in the future you have to pay 10 pounds to ADD A FRIEND on facebook, i can't see it going this way yet but if it does as mentioned in the artical, this could be facebook trailing a pay system for facebook as a whole.
Hope not but it wouldn't suprise me if it is.

They're not stupid. They will charge for services that businesses will use (spam, advertising) and stop there. If they do as you suggest they will stop the average person using the site which would kill it dead.. and the advertising revenue along with it.

Facebook is a business like any other and it needs to make money.

They will get your card details and then start adding options that you can pay for to 'improve' your experience on FB. Like they could add customisation to your profile for 10 pence per week or something. That's what I think will happen. A bit like micro transactions for games.

I agree with newty it is a ploy looking at the guy who owns the site, he just seems like greed all over to me, it won't come in now it will come in the months to come.

1. no you didn't.

2 so you can still send messages for free, but if you don't have the person in your friend list, you have to pay. So what is the big deal about ? Who, except spammers, ever sends a message to someone they dont have in f list anyway ? As good as never, exactly.
