He has a very valid point. Just because you have a hard on for this thing does not mean he should be dismissed. Why would anyone put a credit card in a newly created place of business which will have free software? Even giants like Sony manage to screw up personal security, let alone some small up and coming crowdfunded company with a risky product.

Make sense. I didn't realize what he was saying it was the truth.
I didn't really read the email, just skimmed through it.
I think if you root the device, you will loose access to their store, which I plan on doing anyway. So, they don't have my ciredit card information at all.
But anyway let's see how it's going to play out. I don't hold my breath anything major, they already announced annual releases of the console, which for me is a deal-breaker. And well, it will probably end up on Ebay sooner or later either way. And I never had a hard on for this, just no-one was updating this thread since Sabin left.
EDIT : Actually, scratch all of that, if it requires credit/debit card to play free games, well they can go argo-go-fuck-themselves.

buy some 15$ boards and sell them in some cheap plastic for a 100$
in any case most games do require touchscreens to function, see absolutely no point in this console, any cheap dual core tab under 100$ can do same crap connected to a hdmi and it has a screen

That's what I was thinking, what games on Android are there that support gamepads? Of course games can be made to take advantage of it and can be built for this but that takes time, and did they allow developers to work on games so they'd be ready? Doesn't appear so. This thing is going to fail pretty hard. I wouldn't mind using it as an easy way of loading roms onto a TV in the living room but it had better have some other real use for 100 bucks.

I'm still very much interested in this, it's running Android so the launcher that is getting so much flak can easily be removed or changed, and the system is powered by a Tegra3 so it's not exactly a worthless slouch either.

So, I got my #Ouya few days ago and well I am quite disappointed with it so far.
Menu is hard to navigate due to so much lag. Browsing is just painful and most of the time screenshots do not simply load.
Lack..of..everything in the game store. Not sure why people are so excited about handful of games which are pretty crappy imo. But I guess what I was expecting? Few developers trying to push games asap to make a quick buck.
Not sure why I have gotten another console? FOR XMBC?!?!? Please, I have my dedicated media player for that.
Controller is really medicore at best. Feels like Canada, retarded brother of USA (joke)
They have a lot fixing to do, especially in UI department.
I am really underwhelmed by it, maybe due to lack of content in the market. Maybe it's just an underwhelming console.
Maybe, I will go it a go when game market will mature, but that probably won't happen until retail release and probably few years. But for now it's going to be collecting dust

not saying i told you so...
but in my eyes this console failed at start
because for the same price you can buy a semi powerful Android tablet and a ps3 pad and have the same experience

Mine's due in 4 days, I'm just going to stick a heap of emulators on it for my kids, other than that, it'll be a decent sized media player |
You like at least some UI design coherency, right? You are going to LOVE this.

Yea, only good thing about it are the emulators, I think. Falls short on everything else.

It was never meant to compete with the nextgen consoles, or even this gen, but god damn if this doesn't all sound incredibly disappointing Thanks for the impressions... it really is a shame this thing seems to be failing hard. It sounded great on paper as an emulation device, a Tegra3 usually packs a whole lot more punch than the SGX351/Mali200 Android machines out there.
Oh well. I guess wifey and I will get one of those Rockchip 3066 HDMI sticks, the ones with dual-core 1.6Ghz A9s and dual/quad Mali400s (or some that have the Adreno200) Get one of those and simply pair up a PS3 controller and one of those small keyboards with trackpads built on.
~edit~
Something like; RK3066, 1.6Ghz Dualcore A9, 1GB RAM, Quad-Mali400
or; RK3188, 1.8Ghz Quadcore A9, 2GB RAM, Quad-Mali400
--- add a PS3 controller to those and you've got a banging Android gaming/SMART-TV device. ePSXe/FPSe, N64oid, SuperGNES/SNES9x, Robert's .EMU series, you've got a great emulation device with enough power to really play emulators *and* high-end Android games properly. Still cheaper than the Ouya -- not to mention the RK30xx and 31xx have NEON extensions, which some of the more recent emulators take advantage of, iirc Tegra3 doesn't have that
