all other CFW already run unsigned RIF. Nothing new here. Reactpsn is basically a PS3 wrapper for "rap2rif", that's all it does Smile

err think your missing the point here...you cant run things like PS2Classics without reactpsn and the rap files...you can with this new update.

I'm not missing anything, you are : you still need to generate proper RIF for your PSN titles, including PS2 Classics, for this you need to use rap2rif, which you always could use on other CFW and thus NOT needing reactpsn.

You don't seem to understand that RIF files contain a key, which is a klicensee, that is different for every NPDRM 2 content (paid content), and that is set by Sony when signing paid content. That's why you will ALWAYS need a RIF to boot PSN contents that are still encrypted with its KLICENSEE. So far, there is no way to encrypt our own PS2 Classics as NPDRM3 (free content) because PS2NETEMU expects the ISO.BIN.ENC (the PS2 iso) to be encrypted as NPDRM2 (paid content).

Not sure where to ask this but I'm pretty sure someone here will know the answer. Can you install Windows 7 on a PS3 formatted HDD, without the need to format before attempting to go through the Win 7 installation and formatting? What I mean is that someone on another forum has said that he is trying to install Windows 7 on a drive that is formatted to whatever the PS3 uses, but after clicking 'Custom' in the install options he is getting an error about a missing driver and can't continue. It's a laptop he is using btw.

Cheers.

Cheers Smile His HDD died after just 6 months of buying the new laptop so I guess there is probably something wrong with other hardware.

Is there an issue with the recent version of multiMAN when it comes to deleting the games?

I noticed this when I was clearing up a few games from the internal hard drive. When I hit delete, it would briefly switch to the screen which normally shows all the files being deleted and then goes back to the cover flow and navigation stutters for a while, as if it's deleting the files in the background.

In the older version that I had, it would keep the black deleting screen till all the file were deleted and only then would it move back the the cover flow. Anyone experiencing this or knows of a solution?

So. . .how the fuck do you install PSN games? I thought it would be just as easy as installing the PKG files? I guess not.

Many are. Perhaps the files you've "found" were signed for 3.55 and you're on a higher cfw.

I'm on the 3.55 Kmeaw. I'll have to look at files but I didn't see any specifications. Tried journey, waking dread, and pinball. No dice.

Thats the reason.. the games you mentioned are originally released with higher firmwares. .they need 3.55 fixes for yourself or just update your firmware

Ah. I would have thought the stuff would be pre-patched or something. Is it possible to update to custom FW without having my HD wiped?

Guys gonna get my ps3 downgraded and I want to make use of an external hard disk for the games. In the past I remember that not all the games would boot from external hard disk. Did they fix that ?

Yes, all games work from internal and external. Actually it's been a while since they all work from external ! Only problem is if games have >4GB files, you cannot put them on FAT32 and thus external. Good thing is that only a few games have >4GB files.

I wanted to ask this since a long time -

How does safe umount works in consoles PS3 and Xbox 360 for External Drives ? Does it forces unmount even when someone shutdown console from within game ?

I'm not sure if it forces unmount, but at least it tries. Last time I reversed vsh, I noticed that every time you press POWER or shutdown the PS3, it will try to unmount every disc, including internal hdd before complete shut down. Kinda like what happens on Unix systems (OSX, Linux...)

if it's based on the originall deamon used in linux or a deriviate of it it'll probably unload said deamon which tries to force a global unmount but that feature never worked 100%

youre doing yourself a huge favour with reactpsn, its not difficult to set up, takes around 10 minutes, and after that using any psn content is so easy and comfortable, you dont need to crack your psn games so you can actually update them as well.

If it unlocks in the XMB but not in game, it means the file isn't good.
