The Leading indicator only compensates for bullet drop if you enable "Vertical targeting".
Really simple to test if gunner skills affect the Pilot actually. Get a plane with lots of guns (Hurricane MK2 has 8 ), put them into a slot with 0 skills in gunnery, and take it to a test flight. If it shoots straight, then it's pretty much decided. I did it, just to check.
Crew skills in gunnery.
No noticeable fire spread.
If Fire Precision had any influence on the pilot, then at zero skill level it should be spraying all over the place. Gunner skills as far as I can tell only influenced AI gunners.
Vertical targetting compensates elevation for drop. If you disable it your guns simply shoot parallel to your plane/thrustline and you must compensate for drop yourself (especially when shooting at targets quite a distance away). If enabled your guns and gunsight will be aligned such that your guns pass through your aimpoint at your set gun distance. When shooting at other distances you must correct for this yourself.
There is no auto aim at all in the game (unless you count the AI gunners since they are technically aiming automatically ).
Also, people have to understand the distances involved here. When you fly in a straight line, you can see the crosshairs wobble ever so slightly (more noticeable in HBs because of the more realistic flight model). That little wobble alone can be enough to throw off a small burst if fired from a kilometer away (and people rarely fly straight on, since they usually keep adjusting heading, even if not under fire). When they are in a turn, then it's even more tricky, since I'm not sure the game compensates for turning or just the current speed and heading to project the lead indicator (sometimes people on my tail seem to have trouble aiming and always end up undershooting me when I take a sharp turn).
Okay I may be misreading what all of you are saying, but the fire precision and accuracy
effect ONLY the spread of fire and aim for the ai gunners!! and it does help
When you get the larger bombers ( remember you have to spend the skill points for
experienced gunners, and it gets "expensive".. 240 skill pts for the 2nd one.. )
you can end up with 3 or 4 gunners in the plane, and if you've only spent skill pts
on 2 then the other 2 will have piss poor aim in comparison the fire accuracy, g-load,
vitality, etc.. will only effect the gunners you have spent points in ( so I would pick one
"crew" as your bomber crew and assign only large crew bombers to it ..
right now my set up is:
1 crew with high repair and high pilot skills , for fighters
1 crew with 3 gunners with it spread evenly between gunner, pilot,
& repair skill, for bombers
1 crew with 1 gunner with it spread evenly between gunner, pilot,
& repair skill, for attack aircraft
and 1 or 2 crews ( depends on air force) that I haven't done much with
sad thing is you must go through the crew set up and the earning of skill points
to assign for each air force you fly with.. no dragging crews around with you
As I stated in an earlier post the g-load is what helps you the player the
most and well as Keen(for increases in spotting the Enemy) anything on the
gunners page does not effect you the player, and anything on the pilots page
doest not effect the ai's in your plane.
EDIT: also, I'm getting around to the British planes. Still not sold on the fighters, but the Beaufort and the Blenheim tear up enemy fighters like toilet paper. I regularly get the Fighter badge at the end, while only flying those two bombers.
I'm working on the Americans right now ( they are the Historical battle country this week)
and I can say the p-40 sucks, F2-a is ok at least you can out turn a 109 or 190 even if you
can not outrun them. p-40 neither and when it's 2 on 1 you might as well bury your plane
in a pillbox for some points at least ... for some reason there always seems to be a sprinkling of
bombers 1 202 and 6 109's (the damn g models not early ones) and 2 or 3 fw190's..
will see how the wildcat does shd reach lvl 5 in US soon. pby bombs up a storm if you can survive long enough to drop.
Yeah I got to the 2nd Beaufort before the switch to Russia in historical.. love me some attack
bomber with equivalent firepower.. 109's tended to give me a wide berth especially if I was at
altitude with them.. you could jump the fw190's as well and thump them before they could retaliate
Think Im done with this game, so many noobs and idiots its beyond me. People chasing the same enemy as you and flying into your aft, etc etc. People not covering each other and the needless trash talk. Chinese players that go in groups of 4 and land on the enemy airfield then quit, yeah this game was doomed to fail the moment it was f2p.

I'm still very much enjoying it, and the idiot-allies aren't really that widespread in my experience. In fact, during my 10 levels of playing, it only happened twice at most. Friendly fire can be a bit more problematic, but even that was only 3 times.
Ramming on the other hand...little retards can't shoot, so they ram instead. It just doesn't penetrate that they don't get anything for it other than a repair bill. Since they can't shoot for shit, they end up paying more than they earn, unlike those who they try to ram. Especially funny when they try to kamikaze me while on the airfield, not knowing that there is no collision while landed.
Trashtalking is hilarious at times. Especially when it's someone really childish and the entire match, including his team is baiting him to more and more idiocy. Funny stuff.
Yet to see this chinese thing you mentioned. In every match I played, everyone stayed until the end (meaning until they lost their crews).
oh and is there anyway to only play in matches that have only the reserve fighters ? i regret leveling up, i had a lot of fun in reserve planes, dont like the higher level fighters
Looking at the achievements it seems we might be able to earn the eagles in both windows. There are 4 in total, I have two of them for now, but there are two more that are not unlocked. One without a counter and one with a 0/5.
