Yeap, it'¡s true. However, ever since I started playing with my outfit back in december, I think we must have encountered like 2 hackers (not sure if even 3), and we play on a daily basis. The admins have really done good job. They have even perma-banned users that had spent more than $100 in the game.

And that's just ridiculous, only SOE would rather pay people to watch players than pay for an actual anti-cheat. Its amazing how stupid this whole thing is Laughing


Yeah I can imagine how finantially unhealthy that must be. But I think they said they plan to use a proper anti-cheat system. As long as they keep the house clean in the meantime, I'm ok with that.

Apparently nvidia is doing some big promotion with some f2p game developers, including SOE to give away 50$ of in-game cash and Planetside2 is among the 3 games available, if they buy one of the pricier cards. Here's hoping for a Proekaan awesomeness. Very Happy

Anyways, Higby just posted an interesting graph regarding MBT KD statistics. Of course, Vanu tanks were no way easy-mode before the patch in any way, seriously you guys. Very Happy



Patch released: suddenly there is a more level playing field. The Vanu? They whine. Very Happy Now there is a small advantage to Prowlers it seems, but that's mostly down to superior skills. Cool Face

Meanwhile flyboys give zero fucks. Not that I care now I put 200 hours or so into the game and the lack of a visibility fix drove me insane. It's not that your client isn't displaying the enemies, your client doesn't know they are even there. It's bullshit of the highest order when you could be hitting something but you aren't because the game is shit.

I recommend you quickly find an outfit the moment you start playing. Then it will really worth it. This is not by any measure a solo game.

Their 'War Correspondent' guy contacted our outfit a bit ago, and tonight was the big filming. Apparently he was using some free-cam thing and followed us around like a cameraman's ghost. Laughing

I don't know how long it takes him to put together the final video, but hope it gets put on their channel soon. Our platoon did quite alright, the squad lead was very pleased with our performance , but I have no idea if the guy was filming us at all, or if he was busy with one of the other 2 platoons our outfit deployed tonight.

I almost missed the whole thing. We were supposed to deploy on Esamir which was already full by the time I logged in. I started out as #5 on the queue to warp there, then the p2p members got in queue, literally making it impossible for f2p members to get there (from 5, my position in the queue steadily rose to 30 over the time I was there). I spent about an hour faffing about on Amerish, killing NC, then I think they might have raised the pop limit temporarily for Esamir, since from a 30 minute queue, I almost instantly dropped to #1 and got in instantly. Mighty nice of them. Smile

After that, I joined up with the platoon and the BRTD managed to lock the continent in about another hour or so of constant fighting. Hope I get a brief appearance. Very Happy

EDIT: well, he already has a video up about TR on Miller, and we get a mention at aroudn 1:30, but it's on Amerish and not Esamir.



We had a newsletter that he would be filming us exclusively and we even had a set time (20:00 GMT) when he'd start filming (they said he liked us so much he even joined the outfit Very Happy). Since that video was uploaded yesterday, I would guess our exclusive coverage will come later. But still, we had a mention in an official video. Very Happy

That's very nice Smile Hopefully it'll be our turn sometime in the future. We're mostly focused on spec ops on mid-size facilities as support to the zerg that takes the big places.

Also, Esamir full? That's a very populated server then. Unfortunately on my server Esamir and Amerish are ghost lands most of the time Sad

That update is about a week old Razz A very nice one though, especially with the VR training grounds. Since then, gpu physics + account wide unlocks (purchased ones) have been added to the game along with a couple of performance hotfixes.

So.... How is this guys? Worth giving it a shot? People still playing?

Recently, I got a $50 in game cash thing from the video card I bought and should probably use it so it doesn't go to wast. Mmo's haven't really been my thing lately so I've been hesitant to try this.

Yeah there's lots of people playing despite not being the same numbers as on release. The server I play on (Connery) is probably the less populated of them all as it wasn't part of the recent merging because it was the most populated before the mergings started. Yet you're able to find lots of actions accross Indar (the other two continents are sadly kinda sub-utilized right now). If you try one of the US east servers like Mattherson or Waterson you should find even more action than I can find on Connery, as they're result of mergings.

Also, I never played a MMO before, the reason I play this is because I don't see it as a MMO but rather as a persistent military FPS a la Battlefield, just with a much wider scope and sense of true war and with much less of the derp stuff that was added to BF3 with the purpose of making it more suitable to COD players. Also the game receives a lot of dev support and SOE just doesn't stop adding new great stuff like the ones mentioned above which were all added during the last week alone.

Finally, my recommendation if you want to enjoy the game at its full potential, is to join a decent Outfit and roll with them. Like I've said before, it takes the experience to a whole different level compared to playing the lone wolf Wink

yeah, saw that Razz , just thought to post it here since that huge update draw my attention.

I haven't played Planetside 2 consistently since december/january 2012/13, when there was that double xp. I've made like level 18/19 then,without joining any outfits or nothing. Launched the game a couple of times in the recent months but didn't spend more than 15/30 min in it. ( mostly because of not having time ) Sad

Last night when i started the game with these new updates the game seemed completely different Very Happy

Yeah you can make a ton of xp without joinin any outfits, that's just not the point of joining one. I don't know about anyone else, but I personally don't get my satisfaction of playing these games from the amount of xp. kdr, and other useless stats, but from the quality of the experience as a whole. Assaulting a facility as part of a well coordinated platoon, each squad in charge of a different task, fight your way through it, see the results, etc.

And yeah the game has changed a lot since release/beta and has become a lot better and more varied. It's still in that process, with the ucpming continents and even a new improved meta-game based on the feedback of the community. The only thing that still needs a major push is the performance. Even with all the improvements that have effectively made since the beta, there's still work to do on that aspect.

welp.. Razz you're absolutely right . i didn't mean to sound that i was going all alone. If i saw a big fight going on i would jump with the herd and follow them around until the hole continent was ours, and that was the most fun you can have, just follow them, conquer and hold, huge fights , and thus huge xp Very Happy

Cool, I think I'm going to give it a shot then. Been holding off on planetside since it was released. once I am able to play through bioshock when its out on steam, this will be my next one.
