Loving the game so far, I agree with what cyclone said. I also hated Bioshock 2, in fact I never even completed Bioshock 2 because I lost interest.

But this game gives you that same feeling you got when playing through the first Bioshock game. Which is good. I am curious to see how the Xbox 360 version looks though compared to PS3. So far so good as far as story and gameplay. I just got the Crow ability, it's hilarious watching them pick apart people and having them look all bloody and shredded up from the crows.

that's encouraging to read. i dug the first one but after about 5 mins of the second one i turned it off as it seemed redundant to me. had already decided against this one until seeing a commercial for it the other night. definitely going to give it a try and see what it's about.

mini review because people always ask for it:

Sound : amazing, i play it in french though, but the french dubbing is amazing, same for the music. Just think about Bioshock 1, yes that's right !

Gameplay : same as Bioshock 1, but with melee for now. That's good enough for me ! Plus it works with PS Move :DDDDDD

Graphics : they are good, the city is so huge and feels really alive... You wanna stop at every corner to see what happens here and there. It's like the video we have seen anyway, they didn't bullshit. Please note that the PS3 verison at least allows you to disable VSYNC, which is quite rare for a console game. Doing this will sometimes allow you to enjoy some scenes at 60fps (mostly at the beginning, then more like 30 fps), but you will have screen tearing.

The textures are shitty, low rez though. But the art is really nice. I was more impressed by Tomb Raider than Bioshock Infinite technically speaking. Also the picture is blurry, at least on PS3, and after playing a game like GoW Ascension or Tomb Raider (both on PS3 that is), you can see the picture isn't as clear. It's what you would expect from a dying console, the graphics are still great !

Story : too early to tell, for now it's interesting, it really as mysterious as when you play the first Bioshock.

All in all : do you remember when you were playing Bioshock 1 ? It was special, fresh.
You will feel the same in Bioshock Infinite.

And I hated Bioshock 2.

Thanks for the mini-review man, very encouraging Smile I don't mind the graphics/texture part as I'll be playing the game on Steam. But good to know about the gameplay and world design!

Also,

Thanks for the mini review cyclone!Bioshock 2 was not good. It's great to see that they realized this fact and went the Bioshock 1 way. I still can't decide if I want to start the game on PS3 or wait a week for the PC version.Decisions..

Not much to help with . Just play with the head restraints and don't forget the forehead adjuster...invest in the expanded forehead cushion and especially for T1 in the strap cushions .. Join AVS forums for details of where to buy it (or Google bravia3D HMZ-T1)

e sure in pc u use max res... PS3 remember the smaller screen u set in ps3 menus the stronger 3D effect (won't effect the screen size oddly) it makes some people sick so play with it.

Get a good pair of closed headphones although the Sony ones in my t2 are good but T1 I hear aren't great.

skip the light blockers and play with lights off.

Put on kill zone 3 in 3D and get ready for awesomeness

Thanks for the tips! Took me quite a while to adjust it right but then it's awesome. However you really need to build yourself a headstrap or buy the one you mentioned (60$ for a piece of cloth is a bit steep for me, so I'll try to make one myself Wink). I made a makeshift one out of a hair rubber from my girlfriend and some tape, and this already makes a huge difference in comfort. Enough to hold me over until the materials for my better one arrive.

What really surprised me was the image quality of the oleds, it doesn't bother me at all that they are "only" 720p, the image is amazingly sharp and crisp, and the colors and blacks are stellar...

Sooo all I need now is some free time and I'm ready to play some bioshock Wink

i find killzone 3 lacking in 3d effect, pretty disappointing, especially after it has been advertised so much.
black ops 2, motorstorm apocalypse and wipeout hd did a far better job.

Awesome! Thanks for the early mini review! I too completed the first Bioshock but not the sequel as I got bored! I kinda don't like playing sequels unless I've fully played the prequels but I really have no interest to go back to Bioshock 2! More comments without spoilers are more than welcome regarding Bioshock Infinite! Smile

Anyone care to provide a 360 release prediction, I'm thinking within the next 3 hours since Complex like to release either in the early hours or in the mid afternoon.

Yeah Bioshock 2 was outsourced, and basically a cash-in on the franchise. Irrational started work on infinite immediately after Bioshock 1.

However, even if the first 2 thirds of BS2 felt really generic. The story/feel picked up A LOT in the last third. While not enough to make this a great game, it was enough to redeem it somewhat imo.

I hope infinite is a lengthy experience again. I think Bioshock 1 was somewhere around 12-15 hours if I remember correctly, which is a mammoth if you compare it to other shooters.

I could only wish for that, I want the singleplayer campaign to last as long as possible. This is the type of game you play for the story, or at least I do anyway.

+1 Bioshock 1 is one of my all-time favorites. I loved every second of it. You really felt like walking around in this strange underwater city. The atmosphere was one of the best I've ever experienced in any entertainment medium. And not to forget one of the best storys in video game history. The twist was mind blowing...

And I was always more of a story/atmosphere kind of guy, so this will hopefully be my game Wink
