RPG by Ubi - count me interested
It probably be something different than previous MM games i loved.
True to the series will probably be this unofficial game Children of the Void: An Unofficial Sequel to Might & Magichttp://www.celestialheavens.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9117

What if Ubisoft releases a MMX?
We doubt it, not to mention Ubisoft abandoned the original storyline; we are fast approaching a decade since any news of a MMX. We will worry about it if that day ever comes, but not likely.
I've loved the series up to the 8th chapter, but given that MM9 was a complete abortion and that they're going towards the full AAA route, well... I'm definately not holding any hope for this.

Pretty much this^
AAA-awesome button-based rebootforalargeraudience? Sounds about right They'll streamline it to hell and back, that's for sure..probably following the action route that everybody loves.
Played the older ones (4-5 are something to play if you didn't). But my favorite remains 7. Also loved the sixth and the eighth installment, though the ninth wasn't exactly stellar.
M&M9 in combination with HOMM4 brought down New World Computing. To destroy an entire universe, loved by fans, with a rich mythos: that was dumb....
7 is my alltime fav, but 6 is also awesome. Played 7 like 4-5 times. Then came number 9>_> What a load of crap. I dont have much faith in Ubisoft with their drm. Please dont fuk it up like you did with HoMM series.
So many old skool rpg fans here, not expected=D We are a dying breed though=(
MM6 - Mandate of heaven is the best rpg ive ever played. I play through it atleast once every year.
I wouldn't go that far, but it was a great game. Could have done with some more variety in quests, though (actually, this is my main complaint about the whole series - far too many fetch quests)
I'd also like to mention Arcomage, which is probably the best minigame I've ever played.

Might and Magic got raped after releasing Armageddon's Blade when the said expansion scratched the scifi element from the series.
I would love a new Might and Magic in the spirit of MM6 and MM7 but it proabaly would be something more in style of Dragon Age 2.

The Might and Magic universe always had a strong science fiction element added to the heroic fantasy part. And it made sense due to the story's consistency.
Only Ubi can believe that high fantasy and science-fiction can't coexist. Unfortunately, the previous HoMM/MM games and the Wizardey series contradict that thinking.
Now where are my M&M Cd's, I need to replay the old MM&M's.....

Over on the RPGCodex someone suggested this could be from Obsidian, seeing as Feargus mentioned in an interview a while back that they had an unannounced project with Ubisoft (i.e. not the South Park game, which is now via Ubi in the wake of the THQ bankruptcy).

This. Oh lord, so much of this. MM9 was... just bad. So, so bad. For me it's on the same level of ridiculously, unplayable, bad as Ultima 9 (with my all time favorite quote spoken by the Avatar "what is a paladin?") and freaking Daikatana.
But, if it turns out to be good, I'll probably buy it, if not, then not.
I'm done with pre ordering crap anyways, this "yay, pre purchase reward tier unlocked!" idiocy is going to far.
What was so bad about MM9? It's been many years, but I don't recall anything majorly broken with it (just that the world wasn't as good as in previous games).
By the way, does anyone remember which of the MMs had a zone called "Darkmoor" or something similar? That was my favorite one, but I forgot which one it was

Seriously? As I remember it, it was a buggy broken mess.
I had constant crashes, quests not working properly etc.
And somehow the gameplay just felt off for me.
Add to that the fact that they destroyed Enroth and went with something that felt so horribly boring in terms of game world.
I don't really know what to say to this. We'll see I guess. My only experience with this series was when I was a kid. It was either VI or VII, but I remember that I loved it a lot back then. Haven't tried it since then. I don't even know why... like with many old titles, I don't find the right time to install them I guess.

Different world (though it's still linked to the old M&M Universe), crappy arts and graphics (the concept art and some of the graphics in M&M 7-8 were made by Frank Frazetta, God rest his soul). It just didn't felt right. Still, it was M&M in terms of gameplay and with the patches (official and unofficial), the game was fine.
