nexus 4 does have serious overheating issue. well, it's rare for device to shut down due to extreme overheating. most common issue is extreme throttling of CPU and GPU when temps reach 40C and above, which happens pretty fast in games. so if you like to play games, you don't even need the most intensive game, 20-30 mins in the game your GPU will be running only half the speed.
while some users here are trying to deny this problem, i really don't understand their agenda and what they get from doing so. i doubt they get paid by google so once again fanboyism and ignorance comes to mind.
watch this video, look around on google and xda forums, and then tell me you still believe nexus 4 doesn't have overheating issues. unless you aren't big on mobile gaming, then overheating issue is almost irrelevant for you, but then why buy such a powerful device?
One of my colleagues in the UK has it, he hasn't had that happen yet either. I'm sure it happens, but it clearly must be under extreme conditions. And yes, he does play games on it, although not for hours at a time. Stock ROM. It does get warm during games, but never to the point where it becomes bad to hold. Are there any videos with actual games of it happening Intel_NVIDIA? I'll ask him to see if that does it for him then, maybe there's a new revision or something.
I've played with it during my trips and it is a very nice device. At that price it's just staggering. Physically it is one of the best looking phones I've ever seen, and very pleasant to hold as well due to the rubber sides. Much more so than an SGS2 or 3 at least. I'd have one if it wasn't for the size.

You cannot possibly argue that Android has a superior gaming library though. It's common knowledge that there are more game titles worth playing on iOS.
Also, if you were smart enough to get Gridlee off the app store before it was taken down you have a full fledged version of MAME that you can use without having to jailbreak.

I need to replace my phone but unfortunately with the things I'm looking for (Android, "small" form factor, good hardware) that's quite hard - most of the devices at that form factor have hardware that's worse than my Desire's Snapdragon S1. What I use my current one for first and foremost is browsing the web, satnav, email+agenda, music. After that it's about 50/50 split between development and gaming. And I do want a faster SoC than the S1, because using one of the satnav apps is quite laggy. So sorry, but you're the dipshit for calling everyone who does not use a fucking smartphone as a gaming device (rather than its intended purpose) a dipshit.

That video is refering to the battery temperature at @40c, not gpu or cpu . Also the 'extreme throttling' as you put means the throttle is set to @4x1.2ghz instead of 4x1.5ghz..' big woopems', still plenty fast enough
Guess what, set it higher if you want, it's a .conf file.
I have mine set for battery throttle trigger at 45C and cpu at 75C, plus i'm undervolted by a 150mv and don't suffer from throttling at all..i guess i might if i actually played heavy duty games for hours, but it's the same on all phones, they get hot and throttle by design.
I have no agenda as i will tell you some real Nexus 4 problems.... no notifications with the screen off when on wifi... not fixed since launch, also the 3g(h+whatever) radio sux balls, makes the phone run warm and sux battery.
