lol the hmz-t1 sucks...its better to build your own 3d helmet - just some displays - lenses - CVBS adapter for hdmi - helmet - IR movement controller - and some ready drivers -

Why? The Oleds apparently produce a pretty stunning picture, and according to nearly all reviews, the best 3d image around. And I won't be able to create something similar below 400 bucks (which is what I paid for the set). Did you actually try the hmz? If it sucks it's going back on ebay immediately

Edit: And I don't care for headtracking. Latency would be terrible with a set you built yourself (i magine it'll probably be way above 50ms, which is totally unacceptable). The rift is the first device that gets latency below 40 and closer to 30 which is still shitty but maybe small enough to finally make VR playable.
