Quote: | You could choose to give yourself automated headshots in the slowed-down carnage, as demonstrated to me when the gunman leapt from the top of a barn: he lined up his shots, slammed his palm against the hammer of his gun, and hit the ground just as all those around him dropped dead. |

The above looks more like a brief tech demo of the Chrome engine. Let's wait and judge when gameplay videos start emerging.

From the few infos I think it will be a CoJ 1 "lite" in terms of gameplay, with some additional arcadish features and whatnot. They can't be dumb enough to give us another Cartel, because otherwise...farewell Juarez

Naah I don't expect a RDR kind of game at all, I prefer to stay with my feet on the ground. I expect a CoJ1 with much better graphics and maybe a bit bigger, more open areas.
The problem is the graphics in recent games from the same developer aren't anything impressive, and that includes the upcoming Dead Island Riptide. So just like human_steel, I'll wait for gameplay videos so I can decide if I'm really interested in it.

I really thought the series was on the right track w/ the second game.
The first game was good but I thought the platforming segments felt awkward and didn't really fit w/ the rest of the game. Plus, playing as the indian kid just didn't feel as cool as the preacher. Each time I would take control of the kid, I'd just want to hurry up and finish that part so I could get back to using the other guy.
Then the second game fixed all of that. The platforming was kept to a minimum, and now both characters were badass gunslingers and each kind of had different styles. Plus, there were some open stages where you could do side quests. Hell, they even had a lean system! And it was actually pretty well done, for a context sensitive implementation.
I thought the third one would be awesome but then Cartel came along and fucked everything up. This game couldn't possibly be worse than Cartel...

Wow man I have to really disagree with you about the platforming elements and playing as Billy in the first game. That climbing of the mountain where the eagle nest was must be one of the best segments I've played in the last few years in any video game. And I loved the whip mechanics for platforming.
That said I loved the second game too, and it's arguably better than the first but I really loved and enjoyed both of them.

I like the artistic design a lot. Really hope the game washes out the shame and bitter taste left by The Cartel.
