yeah thats my point. The game itself wasn't broken. It maybe (and i agree) suffered from some poor design choices (i hate what they did with the stats, forcing them on items), but the game was not broken (inferno was utterly difficult, but it was never really intended to be anything , but).
Sim City on the other hand, is broken down to its core. Nothing you do, makes actually a difference. Its all smoke and mirrors and a big fat lie (from what your sims do, to what things are supposed to do ...).
Nothing in the game works as it should.

Trouble is, how many have said that before, yet still handed over the cash to EA come milking time?
A hard lesson, but seemingly, never learned!

We could see a release finally.
I got a news from a french site that say a mod has been release for the game that let you play without been connected to their shitty server.
No link to it altough. anybody?

Yep, they failed this time. But they're not stupid, they'll be making an online mode within a few months, apologize profoundly and remove online-DRM from the next few future titles. Then, in a few more years, it starts all over again.

Who cares about servers, they will fine in a month or so. But game will still suffer from fundamental design flaws decisions just like Diablo 3 is suffering from it.

yeah its all nice and sweet, but they still haven't acknowledged , that the game is broken beyond fixing.
they just keep riding on the "oh sorry for the servers, we so didn't see that coming" wave.
I'd like to hear an official statement, on how about the game is a big pile of bile, with none of the features promised actually working/being present (like real sims, which you can follow and have their real "lifes") and everything (numbers, actions etc) is just smoke and mirrors and faked.

i so wished it would be good (the game), but honestly .. did anyone actually expect it to be good ? I mean, considering the track record for remakes of these kinda games (city build games, tycoon games ... ) ?
|
Exactly I didn't expect it to be amazing by any means, just better than societies and the other knock offs in the last 10 years. And even broken it is. I knew it wouldn't live up to sc4 in scale and such.
I went in knowing what I was getting. It was only $60, was worth the risk.
My kids like it. I have fun with it. I got a good 80 hours of fun out of it, and still enjoy poking around with friends on the region with it.
We now play it as a challenge to see who can get 300k people first without traffic or job issues. Kind of a "I bet I can make a much better city with all zone types than you, despite having to work against the mechanics of the game".
Do I regret buying it? nah, I've spent $60 on a rpg or fps game with 50-60 hours of content that I never touch again other than boredom. Or waste that much in a night out drinking to feel like shit and regret it 12 hours later
Now am I happy EA got the money? not really, never was...but what I spent it on I don't regret, just dislike who got it. (and never stated I liked ea to start with)
So to have had that time with it and had fun, and still having fun with friends on it for what it is (and isn't)..it wasn't a waste of money to me.
But I can fully see why some regret it, and how they are angry about this fiasco that it is..and they are valid reasons to.

Haha this has been an incredibly fascinating soap opera..every day there is a new intriguing twist. I've already had tons of fun with SimCity without even playing it!
