I have tried every forum I know on this scene release and I seem to be the only one with this issue. I have the game installed on both internal and external and the same thing happens. I can actually get past the Duplex logo and into the title screen. But when I select "New game" and then the difficulty, the game locks up on a black screen with the Omega logo dimmed on the lower right corner.
I am on Rebug 4.21
Any ideas?

Did you really download the untouched DUPLEX rlz ? It's possible that you downloaded some repack from P2P with corrupted files...

The Duplex patches work fine on all FW, so if you have an issue, it's not related to the EBOOT but rather to your download IMO.
If you really want to get rid of them anyway, 1.01 update override the original EBOOT and takes over. You would need 4.30 CFW though (not 4.21) since it's compiled with 4.30 SDK (unless you unself the EBOOT and patch sys param for <4.30).
So if you are on 4.21 CFW, then you need the 4.20 EBOOT patch from the Eboot Patch release. The untouched DUPLEX release only works on 4.30 CFW, the game has been compiled with 4.30 SDK. For 4.21 support, use the Eboot Patch !

Yes, it was the duplex release. And I also used the Duplex Eboot patch. I got the game from a private tracker and most people there got theirs to work.

i have duplex release, restored original eboot (which they included), updated to 1.01. works fine on rogero 2.05. this really isn't a game you want to play without update, it's pretty buggy i hear.

Quote: | However, there is one section of the game – the Trials of Archimedes – that will frustrate even the most skillful of players. Many of the crutches you’ve relied upon earlier in the game – the ability to save often or top up your energy – are suddenly pulled from under your feet and the resulting level is tougher than anything I’ve played in a God of War game before. It’s not just that it’s hard – God of War games have always been tough and a stiff challenge is something I relish whenever I spend more time with Kratos – but there are times when it actually feels unfair, because occasionally there’s literally nothing you can do to avoid death.
Of course, it’s not impossible and the sense of achievement you get from actually beating it is immense, but the fact its difficulty is so out of line from the rest of the game is strange. To put it into context, I spent just over nine hours getting to that point in the game, then six hours straight trying to beat wave after wave of enemies. While hardcore God of War fans will no doubt lap up the challenge, for many it could be off-putting. |
bullshit, reviewers nowadays dont know how to play.
just beat that on 3rd try, the difficulty spike is indeed extreme compared to the rest of the game, but taking 6 hrs just to beat that section?

ok, finished it in a bit above 9 hrs.
i would give it 8/10,
it is fun like most gow games, though heavily lacking in boss fights it offers better level design than gow 3 and also more puzzles.
the game has an oldschool feel to it, since you will get stuck now and then at some of the puzzles, last time that happened to me was in ps2 era games.
the game is pretty easy, easiest gow game overall i d say, with the exception of the one area mentioned before with an extreme jump in difficulty (its like the game switched from very easy to very hard in one moment).
while the better level design and puzzles are a welcome return, i just miss the fun boss battles from 2 and 3, the last battle in this game is pretty much reduced to a qte fest.
there are plenty of bugs overall, even after the update.

Nice little review there, thanks. I was actually very hyped for picking this up day 1 as I am a big god of war fan, but I think I fell off that hype train by now. Will probably pick this one up when it gets a bit cheaper. Glad to hear that core GoW gameplay is there, and puzzles are always welcome. Kratos!

I'm playing it on internal. No special settings applied in multiMAN. Just applied the 1.01 patch and it booted straight away.
I assume you already have a disc in the drive. Can you try loading it from internal drive?

I got the Duplex release, copied it to internal, mounted it in MM, installed the update, went through settings, started new game, and then it sticks on the loading/Omega symbol on the bottom right. When I try hitting the PS button to exit the game, rather than exiting, my console restarts completely. Going to try deleting then re-copying to internal. Hopefully just messed a file up while initially copying or something.
Can someone confirm the details on an untouched, unupdated, installed to internal version of this are: 119 files, 35.07 Gb, 37656797603 bytes, 20 directories and 1 big file? And game data utility 151KB?

Is the presence of a BD in the drive mandatory ?? (i mean even if you updated to 1.01 patch and use multiman latest version 4.20.0.4 that is supposed to improve the discless compatibility ?)

rayida : There seem to be a problem with loading the game in the new Multiman. So dont update multiman or install the old multiman.pkg again.

Thanks Don - not using the latest version of MM, using 4.19.01, latest is 4.20.04. That game data size of 151kb looks suspiciously low to me. Had something similar with a bad copy of Batman AA.
