Well the new patch DID improve fps and TressFX rendering a little, here are my old results and here the new ones:

With:

Without:

Now what i cannot find out yet is if TressFX is actually working properly on 2 cards now, yes is gone. (edit: scratch that, ingame it still does flicker like a maniac >.<)
But since the fps is higher then before even without TressFX i very much doubt that it can do proper calculations on 2 cards (due to the impact being MORE then on one card..)

New patch did cause new clipping issues with TressFX hair:

Haven't tried playing the patched game yet, but before the patch the only thing that I didn't like with the hair was how it always "reset" in cutscenes. Whenever Lara appeared in the shot for the first time the hair would sort of drop on her head and bounce around Very Happy
I don't know if it happens all the time, but it did happen often enough to be distracting Smile

Besides that, I didn't have any significant performance issues with it (all that compute power in 7900 series must be paying off), but I am glad they are improving. Overclocking did have an impact as well. From around 45FPS on stock to stable 60 with my OC profile.

Regarding gameplay, a lot of the design paradigms this game uses were in Batman: AC.

Hubs
Metroidvania type of access to different areas (access only after you upgrade your equipment etc)
Collect shit all around the game world
XP and upgrades
Batman-vision

The difference being in B:AC they were used in a meaningful way making it one of the very best game of all times, while in this Vomit

Yes, they are there, but so poorly implemented and just uninteresting Sad

Man, I need to play Batman again!

Batman also got a bit beat up as the game progressed. Razz
(Which happens here as well, plus the environmental changes as the story goes on though here it's fairly minimal with a few exceptions but it's nice to see the new areas during day or night.)

Whoa, performance has seriously tanked with the patch for me. I think SSAA wasn't being properly applied before (I had some suspicions with the way some things looked and behaved) and now it is...

game can be fun enough at times, but there is way too much michael bay quality scenes in the game for me to fully enjoy it. And if the entire game was made so you could stealth all the way by tactically taking out guards and such, then it would be ace.

This game is like i am alive, i know they are different games (different place & story)... but they both have similar things.

you have a bow and its a dark story, you get a rope to reach new places.

Hell... theres a mission where you need to reach the highest place in the game same like this game.

Combat & plataform... its identical, but i am alive doesnt have QTE or michael bay scenes Very Happy

And why Lara doesnt move his mouth when she talks in the walkie-talkie? its 2013 !

The difference between this and Batman: AC is that Tomb Raider gets better as it progresses, while all AC did was make me wish for AA again the closer I got to the end.

Also, "too cinematic" has got to be about the most ridiculous criticism I've ever seen.

Not when you think of it form the perspective where the cinematicness ( lol ) chips away at the gameplay.

Not really. I like playing games, not interactive movies.
Besides if you really want to imitate a great medium, like cinema, please dont use their worst player (Michael Bay) to do it.

Finished it with 79% complete. Good game, fun, nice graphics, very immersive. A good tomb raider game though? I don't know, the amount of puzzles were too few and too simple really.

Still, a solid 8.

Ride it is, it's not great though. (IMOOOO of course)

Even if I ignore the bad/uninteresting gameplay and focus on the cinematic moments, the truth is this has no pacing, a rollercoaster ride needs to go uppppp and create tension and then fall down. This has so many explosions that you become tired of them.

And don't let me start on the story/narrative it's bad AND it clashes with what they wanted to achieve. Lara is portrayed as a stone cold killer that will murder everyone that will stand in her way. She won't try to avoid a confrontation, she will kill everyone, hell including ancient tribes. <- Archeology is hardly her main interest.

"But she wants to leave!", well, the enemies want to kill her for the exact same reason. They want to leave too. If you listen to their conversations in their free time they read books, and have pets, they are normal people, just brainwashed to do what they do TO LEAVE. In the end Lara gets to believe what they believed (which annoyed me so much.. I thought part of the reason to reboot the series was to ground it to reality, but apparently the game's message is "myths always have some truth in them, because the supernatural DOES exist"), and kills them for the exact same reason (in order TO LEAVE), so Lara is not much better than them.

Yes, everyone is fucked on that island, including Lara, but she gets a happy ending and is considered a hero. Not a single crap given for her actions.

The truth is if you take this game scrap the entirety of writing for a better script and balance the gameplay, you easily get a 8-10/10 game (depending on execution). Make it more like Batman:AC. Hell it could become a GotY.

But the way it is the game right now, it's a 6/10 at best and that is for its premise and production values.

Meh

In most of my posts, I address different aspects of the game, in each of them. They are not redundant.

It's not my fault the game is so broken I could write a book out of it Troll Dad

This situation kinda reminds me of mass effect 2, it was a mediocre rpg, but it was a great game, hell, even goty for some. TR might not be a challenging game: gameplay is simple, puzzles and shooting is easy, the upgrade system is pretty standard, but who cares? I enjoyed the game A LOT, sure it´s rewarding in a derp way, but it has an incredible sense of immersion like no other game and the pacing is great, don´t get how people say there´s none.

I thought the game was going to be somewhat like that when I made this post: http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2134345#2134345

Yes I wrote, "I dig the game"!!

And then I got the machine gun/rifle/whatever it is, and CoD-style enemy encounters became the norm and the game went to shit Sad

And to contribute to the topic with something other than (just) my negative opinion, here's a piece of info from the FAQ: http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=124504

Quote:
Will Lara need food, water, or shelter in the new Tomb Raider?

KS: “Yes, because she’s not a robot. We’re actually deep in that now and fine-tuning it in terms of how much water and how much food; how long she can go before consciously you’re like ‘I’d be starving by now.’ We’re also exploring what it means to collect. I’m not going to detail it too much and spoil it. What I will say is that this is not a simulation game. You’re not going to be picking berries and drinking your own wee in order to survive, but there will be a sense of realism in that she will have to scavenge food to keep herself going.” [Transcribed from Crystal Habit Podcast #4 (September 2011)]

In the game the animals, plants etc are absolutely meaningless, but originally they were probably put in because Lara needed them to survive..

"A survivor is born" my ass in the final product.
