Choppers are indeed much easier to fly than in the previous ArmA games, at least with a kb+m.

Before I wasn't able to line up for a strafing run, but in ArmA 3 I've been doing nothing but that in the last 2 hours Very Happy

Really? I didn't think there could be anything easier to fly than BF3 choppers Razz

I will have to give them a try.

I'm just really bad at flying in BF3, it must be the pressure. I panic and end up spiralling to the ground and kill 5 team mates. Only tried it a couple of times, the abuse I got made me not want to do it again.

Arma 3 however, I can land the heli on a 45 degree mountain side.

That's certainly realistic. Laughing Then again, after T.O.H. it doesn't surprise me Smile

Game runs pretty much like ass for me Smile

Low / High makes no difference in FPS... seems to hover around 30-35 fps regardless...

Latest beta drivers, older drivers makes no diff... alpha just is badly optimised... again Sad
Shame because it looks great!

Back to A2/DayZ for me Very Happy

A small tutorial on how to opt-into the development build of the alpha.

(The first update seems to be out for it now, will probably be released for the main alpha client shortly.)

Now that's some dedication! Laughing If arabs were shooting at Israel like this, the situation on our end might have looked completely different. Laughing Laughing

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

I doubt it...none of the textures in the alpha were in ArmA 2.

Textures in this Alpha look really good for the most part. I never played Arma 2 but I doubt it had such quality textures 4 years ago.

So I skipped food for a few days and purchased this.
To my surprise though it feels very sluggish somehow compared to Arma2.
Like when you move it feels as if there's a delay or a "smoothing"-effect. I never feel quite in control of my character or my aim. I can't really put my finger on it, it isn't fps-lag, or mouse-lag, it's just like a lack of responsiveness.

My i7 2600K and ti560 might be to blame, I do not know.

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

Haven't felt this effect your talking about, but i'm sure you've seen there is a mouse smoothing setting. I actually slowed the responsiveness down increasing this slider a little.

there is actually a smoothness setting for controls , turn this off. Also increase sensitivity ( X + Y ) . Accelleration should be turned off ingame by default though you might want to make sure its also turned off in windows.

If anything, I feel the game has become "smoother". It's almost become more main steam in some ways (eg. the hold shift to run aspect) although I'm running i5 3750 @ 4.4 + 670 SLI. With that said I've got a mate running an FX 6300 with an 5770 and it still runs fine (at standard settings).

I'm actually really liking the potential. I never understood the BF players who would bag the COD players for small maps and console spam and then they would look at ARMA and not want to play it.

I look at ARMA and think those BF maps are just so small.

With the success it's having on steam I really hope it becomes more popular than the previous games, in the sense that multiple servers are available and full at all times. I'm having fun with just the editor.
