So I read that if you are inside the city and disconnect, you can continue playing and the game is saved locally until the game can sync back to the server. Sounds like a recipe for success.

Why would you say that? You might as well say the sky is pink and green elephants fly from the Pope's ass. It's got about as much veracity.

You read wrong.
You get a short time, a couple minutes. if it can't sync in a couple minutes it kicks you and progress lost. |
On Kotaku someone said 3 hours.

And thats one thing, but here it was ok to get refunded before this games release. That's the point. You do understand it now, yes?

Maxis explicitly said in interviews that it was only going to be like 3-5 minutes at most, and people I know who are playing this turd have stated as much. |
What Maxis said and what is true ain't always the same. Like: "We need to have the simulation on the server to ensure everyone can enjoy our amazomg simulation".

You can't get refunded on pre-orders either. I didn't really think this through when I pre-order and after the initial few days of mess and bad press, I wasn't overly fussed with the game. However, zero choice as I'd already pre-ordered from Origin.
Based on that fact alone, I shall never be using it again to purchase anything.

Steam is not the same as origin.
Origin IS EA, simcity is EA. Thats a big fucking difference.
Hardly any games on steam(valve) is VALVE.

But here comes the shit thing, since EA has their terms and shit based in Swiss, they don't need to uphold EU regulations.
Same shit when i reported them for violating EU regulations, got that back as answer...

Fail site?
At least they are dropping the review score to begin with. Most big review sites still have 9.0 reviews. So props to polygon for doing the right thing.
