speed racer is fucking brilliant. both visually and the way it's edited.
movies of that scope rarely get that awesome editing feel.
speed racer is a 10/10 in my book.
well 9/10 cause of the monkey.
but 10/10. DAT TRIP.

Yup.
There is no clearer sign of Academy corruption than Joaquin not getting an Oscar for that performance.

what are people comparing hobbit to?
lotr trilogy? Cause it surpasses the lotr trilogy in quality/vfx/shots/tone
Cause i really don't see how this movie is worth a score lower than 7.

+1
the movie is not so bad per se. But it distorts the source material too much just to please the mainstreamed audience. I do not even feel like rewatching it again.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Considering the budget and talent involved, that's not impressive.
But I guess burping dwarves and gleefully suicidal trolls are what the kids want |
ummmm.... so? There were so many derp moments in the LOTR as well. Jackson isn't a perfect director or his crew of writers aren't perfect either. Like, lotr's aren't 10/10 movies. If you're derphead and you're all YISSS YISSS PURRFECT MOVIES!!! MY LOTRS THEY IS! then you can go fuck yourself. Lotrs never should've won that many oscars. But who cares.
Considering the budget and the talent... the hobbit is fucking magnificent to look at. Locations / set design / make up / vfx etc etc. The script is ok. Moves the story along. Have some decent lines, decent progression. It doesn't fumble. Acting is decent as well.
People are hung up on something that wasn't perfect in the first place. Considering the talent and the budget, the hobbit is a HUGE improvement over the LOTR trilogy.
And I agree with neon.... that sort of bull shit fairy tale faggotry isn't up my alley...

Ummm, so? Did I say LotR was perfect?
FotR was great, TT was good, and RotK was OK.
As for telling me to go fuck myself because I happen to disagree with you, that's just pathetic.
I assume that's part of your Hump "charm", right? I've noticed it's very important to insult people and use the word derp as much as possible.
Wonderful.

Yes, yes - it's so beautiful to look at - and that's basically what matters to you. You like CGI and you're impressed by the spectacle.
Good for you.
As for me, I don't expect perfection. I don't expect anything, really. I just respond to what's there.
What's there is a farce - and the book was lighthearted. That's all there is to it.

ah yes... the director and his writers took their own vision of the book and put it on film.
yes... a farce.
how do adaptations work?
and i'm not telling you to go fuck yourself, i'm saying if you were a derphead who is dick riding lotr trilogy. Which you obviously aren't. But there are plenty of people who sucked jacksons dick over the lotr trilogy... which is stooopid.

I thought I was the only person who thought the LOTR films were vastly overrated.
I liked the hobbit though, didn't expect to, but I did.

finally got around to watching drive
it was ok.. i was entertained, but i swear that film is seriously overrated.
also im NOT complaining about a lack of driving scenes - this is just an observation - but why did some of the 'professional' reviews i saw praise the driving sequences? there was 1 and a half in the film, and the only 'real' driving scene ill give the movie credit for, wasnt anything all that special anyway.
also watched something called tactical force, and i couldnt figure out what kind of tone that film was going for. it was undeniably low-budget feeling, and silly as fuck, but it could have been thats what they were aiming for - a kinda 'hurr hurr hurr' harmless dumb action 'bro-team' kinda fun film, kinda like the fast and furious films... but then one of the main characters brutally got a bullet through the head at the start of the movie, so it seemed a bit tonally uncertain.
but it wasnt bad... dumb as fuck, but i liked the actors and they had some fun with it, so it was pretty enjoyable to watch.
soooo... drive... 6/10, tactical force 5.5/10
