I had a look at cd key sites the other day and it wasn't much cheaper than that either.
Needs to drop a good deal below 30€ before I even consider it. Buying the account off someone who ain't playing anymore might be a better idea, but the potential for ripoff is there.
Yeah, being ripped off is exactly what I'm afraid of. However, 36 euros doesn't sound so bad, considering it's 55 euros on the main site or 65 for the digital copy on GMG ()

Not touched my account in a while, always pondering wether to pass it on or not..
Can't afford it RIGHT now since my bank account is pretty much empty what with all the Christmases and New Years but yeah, I'll probably get it in February.

Yup still undecided, not sure if anyone would be curious to just buy gw2 anyhow, there is plenty of vids to watch to not be overly that curious how it plays out.
I sort of have fun in it for short time.. really short time segments then not play it for ages.
Some reason when I play I feel compelled to do well, do fast, and that the gw2 world is just speeding away from me always.. Think im just in that stage of age where I cant stand little buggers that are hell bent on being first and cant stop till they are at everything. It almost drives me to total game rage and possibly nasty other things if it were doable lol
Well, I just bought this game. Read some of the reviews like IGN and such (I know, I know.. don't believe 'em) and thought it was a very good game. Then I stumbled upon this thread, and thought - Crap, maybe it isn't as great as mentioned in the reviews I've read.
So, its it really a mediocre game?
Hardware: Ryzen 3700x, B450 MSI Gaming Pro carbon AC, GTX1080, 32 GB 3200 Mhz cas 14, 256 EVO SSD, 1 TB EVO SSD and 4 TB HDD.

I'd say the initial stages of the game are very good, when everything is new and there's stuff to learn and see. However it quickly becomes quite repetitive and samey, with no real structure or story to push you forward (aside from your personal quest).
As Sausje says, it's very much a casual MMO, you simply cannot binge play it, in other words, play it for extended periods of time every day (like most other MMOs) as you'll hit the level cap very very early on.
I bought and played it quite solidly over December/Christmas and reached level 80 with about 55% map completion and don't have any real desire to go back to playing it.
I suppose you could look at it in another viewpoint and that is to disregard levelling and XP and try to enjoy the world as it is, since you will hit level 80 quickly and there's no real end game. So instead, you have to play it slow (and/or in brief sessions) and don't deliberately complete an area.
So in short, I wouldn't call it a mediocre game as it does provide ample enjoyment, but that doesn't really last for a particularly long time - relative to other MMOs.
Oh, the music is fantastic though, but that is to be expected of Jeremy Soule.

talking about after level 80, is a shit repetitive game, with idiotic developers with the only desire to keep gem/gold ratio good enough to milk you. and ban you at every single mistake THEY make, in order to keep that ratio in order.
it is an okish waste of time, but i would buy it only when is lower than 20 euro/$. is not worth the current price.
well, tbh, personally i would not play it even if it will be free.
i did some good old fashion hero runs in gw1 and i had way more fun vs my whole experience in gw2.
dude, what did life do to you. Always so angry and pissed off at everything
played way to many games, have way to high expectation :/
pissed only on failed games. in real life i'm chill, and i'm usually enjoying little things. i don't need to much to be happy.
In some ways, yes it is mediocre. As was said already it becomes very samey (PvE-wise). Do some things in an area, level up, and then move on to another area with difference scenery and do very similar quests.. It just... lacks variety. You could say it lacks very much 'game' and relies on grinding. The production quality is great, graphics and scenery are fine, game is stable, lag was imperceptible, etc.. It's just not fun after a while.
The most common experience with GW2 has been "I truly loved it until one day, for no specific reason, I just didn't feel like logging in anymore".
I had a lot of fun until I reached the max level, at which point the game lacked activities. In particular, guild activities.
I had fun with World vs World, but the concept wasn't pushed far enough.
The important part tho is that I don't regret buying the game, I had fun for quite a while and I can't say I didn't get my money's worth out of it as I most definitely did (and more).
I'm also looking forward to what they'll add to the game through patches. They've been doing some good stuff, even if most of it was about holiday events (it was that part of the year after all).
World vs World will get some new stuff as we move forward, this could get me back into the game.
Since you already bought the game, I'd recommend to simply play it and have fun instead of looking at the reviews. Enjoy it, reach max level, keep playing for a while and once you don't like it anymore, just stop playing. You can also turn most of your gold into gems, I'm pretty sure they'll let us "upgrade" our account from the gem store once they release an expansion. (so you could either buy the entire expansion, or get a rebate, by turning gold into gems)
Since the game has no monthly fee, you can always come back whenever you like. I'd also recommend to try most of what the game has to offer, except maybe the dungeons (outside of Fractals, which are good). The dungeons... That's the one part of the game where I feel they completely failed.
Thanks for the replies. Got a bit "worried" that I bought a shitty game, just read a couple of reviews which stated that it was great. As I tend to play only a couple of hours when I can squeeze it in, it should be some time before I get to the boring part.

GW2 is like the ultimate fastfood game. You don't have to invest much or think much - and there's always something to do. But nothing about it is deep or compelling - and it would depend on your approach to MMOs whether that's a problem or not.
Personally, I despise that kind of shallow design - but that's because I'm still a very enthusiastic gamer at heart - even if I don't have the time to be.
But I can't deny it's a competent product and is really quite impressive in technical terms.
I liked GW2 it was fun to play, now i don't play it that much.
Best gear (exotric) is not hard to get. I really liked that you have only 10 skill slots. Progression in this game is quite fast too.
There is no much in terms of end games. There is Word vs Word with is fun for some time.
Fractal dungeons are fun for some time but they get repetitive fast.

These 2 phrases summarize perfectly my GW2 experience and views.
Anyone warrior have rotation and trait set that they know works for GS and pve general smashing.
I was messing with my low lvl (21) warrior today and everytihng seems to work lol but not sure its efficient what I do I still loose a shit ton of health at times.. fighting lvl 24 mobs not sure if thats a big deal for warrior in gw2.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
Thanks for the video. This new patch next week seems to be finally fixing some things that they should have done months ago like being able to preview items in the Trade Post. Now I wonder when they will add the ability to reset the HUDs to default position or even reset the options to the defaults since you can easily screw up the camera position and stuff and get stuck with it never being in the correct position again.

Wanna get hold of Arma2 and got no mullah... 30 euro quick sale for an basically untouched account... Aeon can verify this account works because I think he tried it once or twice.
Send a pm if you are interested (shrugs)

My friend is trying to get rid of his account (he only leveled one character to like lvl 60), originally US-based (not sure if that matters), probably 25-30 USD range. If anyone is interested send a PM.
Another Party Instance i guess?
I never got to see any of them since its so painfull to find a party in this game, i mean why is everything so streamlined and easy to use in this game but there is no other way to find a party then to shout in area chat for hours with no end?
Didnt they ever think it would be a good idea to just let ppl queue for instances in a easy to use way?
