I'd return the RAM for a full refund if possible and just get the basic RAM. You just don't need fast RAM in a home system these days. Nor do you need the RAM to overclock like with socket 775 and how that worked.
You should be able to set the RAM to higher speeds but it all depends on the memory controller on your 2500. I have my G.Skill kit set at 1866. Never tried any higher since I read a few articles where anything after 1866 gave next to nothing in performance difference. 1600/1866 is the sweet spot these days. So try setting your RAM to 1600 or 1866.. If the kit was expensive, replace it with a cheaper 1600/1866-kit.
Since the ram was dirt cheap, I think I will just keep them. I cant wait for my new system, so I just want it up and running ASAP.
Now I am going from a Q6600 and a shitty gigabyte mainboard witch is kinda faulty.
I also ordered a Samsung 840 pro SSD, so I just cant wait much longer for a system that actually runs stable! My question from the start should have been if these ram would work. And it seems there will be no problem running them at lower speeds.
