If there's a game that deserves it, it is Stalker: SoC. It should have 500 pages of posts, not 7 pages where it stopped in 2006. Unless there's an official Stalker: SoC release page.

We have this one too http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32784&start=1860
Still not as popular as our typical Cawadoosys clones' threads though. Not enough cinematic awesomeness™ . Razz

wow remember playing this on ati x1800xt. Razz and then i upgraded to a 8800gtx and the game was the best ever Very Happy

rough gem of an fps. i loved the bullet drop off, exploration, beautiful and atmospheric levels and a museum of game design since late 90's till the game's release date. Laughing

call of pripyat is better, but the original game had the wow factor.

So i'm about to play this game and i got the complete 1.4 mod. Is there any point in installing the expansions for this game until after i finish the main game? Do they add any updates to the main game?

Do you mean Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat? They're separate, stand-alone games. They have their own complete mods, however Clear Sky is a pretty lousy game even with it compared to the two others.

You mean the sequels? Each Stalker game is a standalone game with their own story. Clear Sky is a bit iffy, as it was very buggy and used most of the original stuff from SoC with a few new areas and of course a new story (prequel to SoC). Call of Prypiat on the other hand is considered the best of the series and well worth the try after you finish SoC.

If you are gonna be playing clear sky, make sure to get a mod that prevents missions being done while you are nowhere near that area.

thats what ruined it for me. you get a mission, but by the time you reach that area the fight is over. and so on and on. who came up with that crap needs to be shot.

SoC was the best for me. I enjoyed Clear Sky as well as CoP but was disappointed at pripyat itself. Pripyat in SoC was much more awesome and full of doom atmosphere. In CoP it feels like the made the structures and then forgot to fill the area with quests and stuff.

Damn this game has good atmopshere. What i find lacking is the quality of the actual shooting. Enemies in general has a good tad too much health, especially that cloaked monster you first meet in a tunnel. Stealthing is most certainly broken. This is one of those games with many faults, yet you can't help but love them anyway. I really enjoy it.

In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (and soviet Ukraine) you can't stealth enemies. The enemies stealth you.

If you upgrade weapons you can improve the shooting (also -super banal advice- remember to always aim at the head, since their body is almost immune to bullets) , but still, hitboxes are completely different if compared to any of the "Next Geen" shooters around. Stalker is for manly men Very Happy

Lost Alpha Update

Official statement of Dezowave Group regarding leaked version and release date.

Some testers have decided to ruin years of our hard work and have leaked the unfinished Lost Alpha to the public. This leaked version is not finished and not prepared to be released by any means. It contains render bugs that we've been working on since February among the other ones that prevent smooth gameplay.
It is stolen copyrighted material and it is illegal to download it.
Modders are forbidden to use any of its contents until official release.
Links to the leaked files won't be tolerated here nor the discussions about it. Any support for the leaked version won't be given either.

This unfortunate event crosses out any chances to release LA as an official addon to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. LA will be released as any other mod without official support from GSC.

In this situation we've decided to release the official version of Lost Alpha on 26th of April 2014.
On Chernobyl disaster 28th anniversary you will get the most recent version of LA. It won't be completely finished as we wanted it to be but at least stable and finishing the game would be possible.
On this day there will be official presentation of LA in Warsaw during 'Park in The Zone' event.

Now I have to replay Stalker! I always wanted to do that. never played its 2 sequels tho. Could not catch the atmosphere

and as for alphas, it's not that hard to find all of the Stalker Alphas. There is only like 40 of them from many year. This must be most leaked game ever in terms of testing alphas, betas and stuff

Maybe I should give them more time then. I ditched the sequels because they ran like dogshit back then.

Are those considered on par or better/worse than shadow of chernobyl ?

I rank the trilogy:

Shadow of Chernobyl
Call of Pripyat
Clear Sky

However, none of them are bad and all three Stalker games are very much worth playing.

One of the best fps series ever, imo.

Holyshit, that mod was in development almost as long as the game itself.

For me its the opposite, i loved Clear Sky the most cause of the big areas and faction wars, then call of Prypjat is 2nd and at least comes Shadow of Chernobyl.
