My Bitch!
Apparently my money is no good.
In transition right now. Just separated. Went back to school a while ago and got out and got a job in my field right away. Been working there for 4 months now.
My house is sold, April 8 when I get my share. I have no debts, own my own car (2011). I have a good portion of RRSP's being transfer to me in a short while.
I'm trying to rent a place until I find something I like that I will buy. I am not telling them I will be there on a shorter term.
I was denied my own credit card..... I don't even need one except to do the pay parking thing. I asked for the minimum amount. They might OK it now.
No one wants me. I don't have rental references because I owned my own home. I've haven't rented in 20 yrs. I have the paperwork to prove my mortgage of course. Have a bank account to prove my pay and alimony , pay check stubs. Seriously, they think I'm a scam artiste or something and I'm getting the total brush off. One even laughed at me and said, "Yea, common story"
If I didn't have a better attitude I would be feeling sorry for myself. But it's kinda laughable. When I buy my place I have almost 90% of the down payment.- soon to happen in April. I have a large RRSP's amount, No debit.
And the kicker is I am trying to rent a place in SURREY for $550. Flop house anyone? I'm getting kinda frantic I need to get a place by april 1st.
Apparently I am a looser!

Except for the seriousness of finding a place to live, I'm kinda laughing. Thoughts of my own private non-violent anarchy are going through my head. A type of turning my back on parts of the financial word and doing things my own way... A FUCK YOU to them.
I will find a way. Even if I end up in a hole with a bunch of other people. I can find a way.
You know, people on social assistance are better risks then I because welfare pays rent directly to the landlord.
I guess my ego is hurt. I thought someone would lucky to have me for a tenant, HA!

Nothing wrong with renting.
Nothing wrong with starting a new life.
You have the opportunity to make something better for yourself.

I know. I could care less about status and fancy living. I totally am making something better for myself and I have a quiet kind of confidence about it. A secret smile that I'm going to be ok. But the skepticism I seem to be facing is a bit shocking. I have this feeling that a lot of dead beats are using a similar story to me and thats part of the problem.
And I'm living in crack infected surrey for work, obviously not a user. I think thats the kicker.

I have the day off tomorrow and I am running around looking again, trying to meet with people.

As long as you do not start identifying yourself with the deadbeats and keep it real, nothing bad will come from this.

You will handle this. Just keep doing what needs to be done. Situation is hardf but think of it as freedom or new start.
As above - seeing only Your contribution on forums, I can say that You will manage this.
You've earned so much. I can only dream to even have my own car right now(earning 400 euro is sooooo cool). You lost it but thats not Your foult exactly. If You were able to earn all of it once before ,You can do it again. Just try to rest.

I have a spare room here pistol
Nah but gl, kinda stupid that they refuse someone like that.
Is it that hard to find a proper place then over there? Or are there enough but they purely don't want you somehow? :\

That's the way it is here too. And that's a good thing.
I don't want neighbours who decide to chop up the furniture and shit things up and behave like cave people.
People in general are fucking idiots. You need some basic mechanisms to prevent the crazy fucks from living near people who are average Joe Schmoe.

So how does it work if you rent a house for the first time in your life? What's your reference in that case? Here in the Netherlands, it's pretty much "we're OK with it if you can pay". They don't even ask whether you have a steady income or not. This of course is the other extreme, which I think is also weird.

The references does not necessarily need to come from previous places you've rented an apt. at. References can be from previous employers, student corridor rentals, etc. - basically they want a reference where someone tells you/verifies that you're not a total junkie/unemployed douchebag.
Basically the only people who have troubles getting references are people that you don't want renting an apartment.

Pistol:
Have you not noticed in life yet that to get anything, anywhere, you have to be an utter asshole to society, run up huge debt, even maybe have a few offences..
Then and only then will you get a 10K credit card.. or such.
If you are squeaky clean as they say then they dont want you, I had plenty of whining on the phone at the bank I was in because of such, its always the same reply from the bosses..
What good are they as a customer to US in this department if they dont owe us anything? We need them on the edge and breaking payments and those that are overly great with managing money make us less money..
that viewpoint never changed...

damn some people are picky, not how things are done over here I rented a place to anyone that wanted it and could afford it, plus I consider myself lucky I always had someone that would pay on time, except that one kid but even he was great, he painted the whole apartment before he moved in.

I wonder if he would have complimented her in the same manner hadn't she been a women.
Regardless, I find it a particular disgusting indulgence in futility these displays of courtesy and chivalry for the mere sake of satisfying a misandristic social code. | You think he's hoping he's gonna get some?

Why do you actually speak asif we are in a goddamn fucking courtroom and every word you say is being registered to be written down in the history books?
Your shit is sometimes so fucking confusing, just because of the words you are using..

Because to make something so profoundly idiotic sound reasonable, you must make up for it by overcompensating on the complexity of the words used to say it.
