It's a 21:9 aspect ratio (or close to it, if it's 1920x800) instead of your "regular" 16:9. Happening more and more, deal with it.

I don't like it either, they went for 16:9 so heavily and now this crap. But you're acting as if it's something new or that it's more than usual in this case. It's not and..it's not. Been going on for a long time now.

well i wouldnt say its happening more and more, id say its been the ratio of choice for a long long time. nothing new has happened, nothing has changed recently in regards to that ratio...
if anything, id say full 16:9 movies are the rarity, but ive noticed it becoming MORE prevalent in big budget films these days than it has in the past. so perhaps, if anything, that could be the reason for the complaining.
but yeah, far as im concerned - its not a preference or anything - i just EXPECT that a major hollywood film will come out in 2.35. 16:9 is always the surprise, not the other way around.
i just think stormwolf is on another one of his arguing crusades again. no one so far has said anything about liking or disliking or preferring anything, or even said anything confrontational, just simply trying to explain why things are...

I only said i particularly noticed it in this movie. And as i said, i'm sure i took notice in this fashion as i really loved this film, and waited patiently to see how magnificent it would look on my new tv, only to have half the screen covered in black.

For the last part it's not true. Just think about it for a second. I stated my opinion about this movies aspect ratio, and you reply in a half laughing manner which puts me on the defensive.

you stated that the film had black bars. i casually and jovially replied that it was your screen that had the bars, not the video itself, and reminded you that the majority of films are in this ratio. nothing to be defensive about at all, and certainly nothing that justified the accusations that followed

I will admit i don't know much about movie technicalities, but i prefer a to the point explanation, and not getting the feeling of being ridiculed. I guess most people do. It's just exhausting on this forum that you need to defend any opinion on everything, all the time.

Sparks release has low bitrate and quality isn't very good. Wait for non-scenes.
Bluray source is not out yet, as far as I know, so it will take a little more time.

I cannot really understand why BD25 or BD50 is still not upped for Hobbit since the Sparks release itself was not upto the mark the only good looking was The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey 2012 BRRip XviD AC3-SANTi but he had too much of sharpness added to look good.

Eh, I thought it was underwhelming. The first hour of the movie was just slow, dragged on and filled with a bunch of shit that didn't really matter to the movie. Mid was awesome, then the ending was absolute shit.

Indeed - it's supposed to be out after summer. So it's just stupid to buy the one being released next month (unless you got a shitload of cash and want both versions)
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.
