Hey guys,
For quite some time I'm thinking to buy a media player, but I can't find a proper one it seems.
I have a PS3, but if I want to watch HD movies I have to wait before someone makes an AVCHD out of it. Streaming is not an option in my place, because both PC and PS3 connection are via wireless.
What it should have:
- .mkv support and .srt
- Dolby Digital and DTS ( My receiver has only Optical, no HDMI)
- Optical audio output
- HDMI output for my TV
- Able to connect a USB too it where it plays the files from that, internal HDD not needed
- Under 100 Euro
Is this possible ?

I currently have mede8er 500X and loving it. But I would never buy another on of them because those fuckers rather pump out new versions every X amounts and don't support older models.
There is also AC Ryan, which is pretty good as well. That was my original intended purchase.

There are also few media players from http://www.xtreamer.net/
When I was in the market for my media player. I originally wanted to purchase AC Ryan but something draw me to Mede8er which was not a best purchase.
There also popcorn but that will set you quite a lot. Roku are quite on the cheap-side. I can't think of any other ones. There is also WD Live but I don't think it support usb. Especially those 7.1 master-hd . Xtreamer might a good choice too.
Gonna be hard to find decent player for less than 100 euro. It's because if you buy one of those cheaper models and well, video play back might be choppy sometimes especially on higher bitrates.

wdtv live is probably not a bad choice.
I had a first generation WDTV a few years ago and was quite happy with it until I decided to switch to something more advanced (and more expensive).
I used it in conjunction with an external HDD connected through usb (the original WDTV didnt have an ethernet port so it was the only way)
It does have a USB support and also supports streaming if you ever want to use that.
I believe it can't decode DTS but will pass it through optical to a receiver so that should be fine in your case.
So while I can say the WD TV Live seems to fit your criteria, I'm not sure if it's the best option as I haven't looked around for info on media players in a while.

Jailbreak + Showtime?
Anyway:

All the others are pretty crap really. WDTV Live is very, very mediocre. Then there's Apple TV, but to be quite frank, it needs to be jailbroken to get anywhere near of the other players and doesn't offer anything the others don't (quite the other way around really).
If your PC is close enough to your TV, you could also skip all of this, get a remote + IR receiver for your PC and install XBMC or MediaPortal and just start that when you want to watch something

Use Plex Media Server with PS3. Issue solved. PMS appears as a DLNA device, and PS3 sees it.

Streaming is not an option he says Leo.
And the PS3's WiFi is really fucking horrible anyway. Where my iPad and phone have no issues streaming 1080p the fucking PS3 can't even get through 720p. Its WiFi antenna is really, really weak

That might very well be, yeah. Lots of the "other" mediaplayers are in fact quite crap. AC Ryan are the only ones I haven't had issues with yet.
And only their European branch was declared bankrupt; or more accurately, the parent company in Singapore let it go bankrupt because it was so costly. Instead, they now distribute worldwide themselves and handle all warranty. AC Ryan is still very much alive and kicking

I think AC Ryan is on same quality as mede8er but the poor support on mede8er is a big turn off for me like I mention before. But really whatever you decide to buy AC Ryan/Mede8er, both are pretty good.
