The GUI is pathetic. Like a cheap HTML 5. There are "ads" everywhere in the sorts of "Having trouble winning? Upgrade your car now!" Every time you win a race, it tells you "You have enough money to buy XXX" car. 
I am ashamed. This is what EA has done to this franchise.

Runs pretty great on the iPad 2. Haven't tried it on the third, there might be problems with it. The menu for the iPad 3 version of RR2 ran like utter shit when trying to turn the camera. iPad 4 again has no problems with it.

Well, I reserved my judgement until playing.
I enjoy the game. Maybe when it first released in NZ and the couple other countries a couple weeks ago the payment scheme / timers were asking too much. With the version of the game i'm playing I don't have a problem with it.
I paid $5 for the 150k in game credits and i'm honestly pretty much set. I had bought the Focus RS as my first free car and saved up credits and also bought the S15. With only two cars i'm never waiting for anything. One car will be in the 'shop' but the other car is almost always ready to go. I've got the TTRS for the tier higher races as well. I hardly spend the 'Gold' currency, and actually just saved up enough of the 'gold' to get the MP4-12C.
I've actually earned enough of the credits from normal racing that i've pretty much maintained that $5 for 150k credits that I put in. I've got plenty of cash for any upgrades etc.. Yes, you have to wait for a timer to expire for the upgrades if you don't want to spend the 'gold', but it's not like you can't race while the upgrades are being 'delivered'.
So with the way they released the game I don't have any issues with the F2P model. With 2 cars you are rarely out of the action. With 3 cars you'll never have to wait for repairs.
I think it's a pretty lame that some people are just hacking and unlocking everything off the bat. Sort of their own loss though because lots of the replay value of this game just comes from unlocking new stuff, and the 'upgrades' make a huge difference for the 1/4 mile race mode. The other race modes are all pretty much skill based, but the stupid 1/4 mode is just wacking the launch button as fast as you can and shifting right when you hit redline. So the upgrades make a huge difference as you'll never be faster then someone who unlocked all upgrades for a car, and if you just hacked the game to get those upgrades that pretty lame IMO.

Forgot to mention the AI in this game.
My only major gripe with this game is the fucking AI and the stupid timeshifting thing. It's not 'AI' at all. It's basically a 'ghost' but it isn't. With some of the races the only way you can come in 1st place is to just take the damage and plow through the 'AI' drivers. So the most enjoyable races in this game are the 1v1 challenges, the hillclimb/autox events, and the endurance mode.
The normal 'races' suck because of the shitty 50 million other 'AI' cars that have no real intelligence at all and serve as nothing more then just a blockade that requires you waste in game currency to plow through them. (Timeshifted shitbag 'AI' will continue on their merry little 'line' regardless of your position. It's not like they are even driving in an aggressive fashion against you. It's just that they are an inmovable object and have no problem plowing through you even if you have command over the line.) The timeshifted thing would have been fine if they kept it just for the 1v1 mode, but they should also have real multiplayer for at least the 1v1 mode on top of that. Then for the typical cup races fuck the timeshifting and put in real AI.
Or they should have just put fucking time trials in for the cup mode. The timeshifted shit heads would be fine if you at least started in a decent position. Thats the entire point of time trials. This is largely due to them wanting you to waste in game currency on repairs IMO.

I don't doubt that they will. Should have been something supported at release though. People keep complaining about the F2P/IAP aspects of this game but while focusing almost entirely on that they are missing the fact that there are some more serious issues with the game besides that, and again, with the current release of the game if you have a couple of cars you are never out of the action.
The problem is that most of the 'cup' races in this game aren't fun at all due to the inept 'AI'. The drag-races are pretty lame as well. The drag races have 0 skill involved. It's just button mashing and who has the most upgraded car. They should have forced the players to control the car more during the drag races and/or made launching the car harder. Most sub-$50k cars don't have proper launch control. (Even if you add it with something like an Accessport) They've got 'launch control' per say, but it doesn't have the intelligence to launch the car anywhere near as good like say the GTR's launch control.
Besides adding multiplayer I think they could also really improve the game if they improved the car tuning aspect as well. Instead of just dropping money on upgrades they should allow people to fine tune certain aspects. You could drop money and get a general boost to certain stats, but you'd still have to fine tune the alignment, suspension, and the tune of the engine itself to really get the best stats out of the car. There are a couple of drag racing games in the app store that focus on this and are actually kind of fun. So if you combined the full on tuning aspect + 'real racing' you'd have an even better game.

Works fine for me offline. If I turn my iphone 5 to airplane mode it'll play everything just fine. The only thing is that you won't get 'new' persona's to play against in each race.
