Specs in sig. I am hearing terrible coil whine/whistling/buzzing for like 30min or 40min before my pc gets warm.

The sound seems to be somehow connected to cpu or something, because it amplifies every sound made by activity on pc.
Hdd is working - I can hear that as coil beeps(and not only disk scratching).
Mouse dragging on desktop. yep, that comes through cpu too - I hear it from my case.
Watchign Youtube - yeah let's dance to the coil buzzing/whine Laughing

etc etc etc. This is not damaging anything etc. Jsut annoying. i've readed that I should find coil on motherboard and glue it or put some nail polish on it but there are no exposed coils on this board and I can't locate the source of whine couls buzzing/beeping.

One of types of noise I can hear from time to time:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=niriRTMfswQ#t=6s
I only recorded that one. It is rather less common than other strange sounds but it also happens.

I have this pc for couple of months and it was always there. I just thought it will go away soon but it's not. Changing case to fractal 3000 only helped to isolate that noise from headphones via front jack, but the annoying sounds can still be loudly heard coming from inside case. Especially in the morning. Those are the loudest sounds my pc makes. It is quiet besides that.
oh and no pc speaker. fuck those.

Important - DO NOT mistake it with hpu whine. Gpu whine is constant when playing at high fps. Nothing beepy or things like that.

edit:shit... I think it is a second topic I've created about this.... nevermind. I still need some tips Wink

Sounds like there is pig inside your PC Cool Face. Amnesia: Machine Of Pigs edition. Anyway dont think you can do nothing for it, the mobo doesnt use exactly the best components, you might try RMA it.

nah. I won't rma it. It works perfectly. I would prefer to fix it myself somehow.

I got this board because it was cheap. There was nothing I needed from more expensive asus sabertooth moards etc. I wouldnt gain any performance by going with more expensive boards and this one have all the features I need.... so... I can put with this annoyance.

100$ is always better than like 300$ for nothing i need Razz

You should also make sure it is the boars, coil whine tends to come from yes board but can also be a psu issue.. also make sure its not ur gfx card, had a few die after a while with shitty caps and coils going bad.

oh and im not mistaking it as u wrote.. If you have not had a varying cap and coil issues with gfx cards in the past then you cant really be sure can you?

underload all caps on a board wherever it is will get stressed as more voltage is put in. Get your ear in that case load it up under stresses and listen for it to make sure you can locate it correctly. And also check its not a coil making the noise, its usually coils that whine not caps.. if it is you can put some hot wax on it to shut it up.

there are little tools to poke on caps to silence them to locate such things, but you can just roll up some a4 paper and put it to your ear to locate it Very Happy

dont rule out caps though, if they are not producing good smoothing or storage of the charge, bad harmonics etc replacing those caps can sort the issue.

Caps or coils that gives certain high pitched (weak) whines on my card within certain frequency/load ranges (usually only benchmarks) are usually not dangerous or will damage the component unless it's very loud and almost makes things vibrate a little (which may cause serious internal oxidation failure sooner or later).

As for moosenoodles suggestion, good luck getting a cap off and soldering on a replacement on modern PC hardware boards (GPU or Motherboard), you need to be pretty skilled with a thin pointed solderer and be extremely careful not to touch any other component/solderpoint/copper line on the board. I'd leave that to the experts or RMA the thing if it really worries you, but unless it's a really serious problem they'll just return it.

I know it doesnt actually do much harm, but it's a little disheartening as it just feels as if it's gunna break.

here's a suggestion i got from another forum - leave the card on overnight running a loop of unigine! get it whining all night if you can stand it, and within a few days it will be gone (if you're lucky)

What will be gone, the whine or the card? Laughing

But it might not be a bad idea to "force" the card, that way if the coil whine leads to serious issues these will appear sooner and hopefully still within the 2 year warranty.
