I sincerely hope the new generation of consoles have some kind of online system preventing early leaks. I can calmly comprehend a release coming out 1-2 days before the game's official premiere, but 10 before that - that's itsy-bitsy irritating. Mad

how earlier the better. I don't understand why its irritating.

It's a bit irritating for me. I wasn't generalizing.

And why is it irritating? Because I want to play the game now, but can't. And it's a bit more hurting knowing there're people enjoying it right this instant. Sad

Meh, I don't care about early releases for the derp platforms. If anything it's good cause you can know more details about a game before you even consider pre-ordering it or buying it shortly after release.

Yeah, I come back 8 hours later and still the only gameplay related comment about the game is the QTE??? "Game is awesome, great graphics and story!" "I knew it would be good!".

How about you comment about the most important element of them all? Y U No????

I will give my impression on the exploring, but only done abouyt 27% of the game.(taking my time to explore everything and finding all things that give me more salvage and XP...just like in FC3)

It's basically divided in to small areas with every area having certain amounts of stuff to find. Some areas are a bit larger but that just usually means more climbing. Smile
All the things you can find are indicated in the map section, but it doesn't show you where they are, unless you find the area map. Think FC3...same basic idea.

You can fast travel to earlier maps(or camps as is stated in the game) in case you didn't find everything or didn't hunt the area clear.

Everything you find gives you either salvage or experience which then you can use on weapon and skill upgrades. You can also find weapon parts which enables more upgrades.

Puzzles so far have been very few and they have been piss easy. It almost always has something to do with fire and leverage...no brain teasers so far. Sad

Are there any survival aspects in this game? Or are they just meaningless and repetitive collect/minigames?

Well, thanks for taking the time to post that proekaan. I'm glad to read what you say about the exploring part, the necessity of finding useful objects (and not simply "collection" items :S) and the ability to come back to previous areas.

About the puzzles, it's s a shame they seem to be so scarce Sad I wasn't expecting any elaborated puzzles as the ones in the Tomb Raider titles I've played (especially Anniversary) weren't hard or anything, but at least they were fun to do. Excellent timewasters for my taste. Hopefully they appear more frequently as you progress a bit further?.

I understand there's only certain survival gameplay at the beginning of the game, but not later on.

Nop, the only survival aspects in the game are related to the story and not the gameplay. Game is easy even on hard, there's plenty of ammo, enemies die fast etc.. I still like it though.

I certainly hope that's the case. But I need more info! Hopefully some of our resident rushers own a derpbox and are playing it right now. So they can produce some sort of review of the whole thing.

But then again, if they rush it, maybe they won't be able to appreciate the good things the game has to offer? Philosopheraptor Razz

It's funny. They keep saying how this is all about survival and shit, but it seems that the old TR games are more about survival than this. They were never presented as such, but if you think about it, they kind of are. And again, what I thought this would be when they revealed it as a survival game, was a full fledged game inspired by the level from TR5 when you play as young Lara. That actually really was survival, with quite a horror theme to it too. This probably was like that at some point, but it's clear that they have turned it around and it's not anymore.

Well I have only played Tomb Raider Legend and Anniversary so far. I haven't touched the old games. But I can say with all certainty that those two I've played don't have survival elements at all. I guess you will be able to be specific about the other games I think?

I said the old TR games, so you wouldn't know if you haven't played them. I know the CD era ones aren't at all. I'm not saying they were proper survival games (even though they felt as such at some moments - one of them being the one I mentioned in 5), just that they were more about survival than this, even though they present this as a survival game apparently.

Yeah, right at the gates infinite pistol ammo isn't the first thing it comes to mind when I think of a game that has some survival elements to it. Razz

Thanks for the feedback, it's more or less what I imagined then. Straightforward action-adventure to play with the brain turned off, which is not necessarily a bad thing, just not very Tomb-Raider-esque. Razz Maybe one day we'll have a proper sequel..maybe.

Absolutely. I was getting tired of the old formula. As if I was playing the same thing over and over with the last few installments. They brought nothing new to the table and had moderately satisfying story and gameplay components. That's how I saw them. Even if this game flops tremendously in my eyes, I'll be glad that at least they tried.

This may be true to some extend and while it is a bit derpy the game still is way more interesting than any previous tomb raider games. Kinda like uncharted.. nothing too hard but enjoyable enough to move past its shortcomings.

I thought the immersion was better than Uncharted (1,2, 3) IMO. When she is freezing, you can almost feel it too, the camera work and the details are awesome, they were definitely not bullshitting about them wanting you to be Lara Very Happy
