Pretty insane for mobile chip Very Happy

Quote:
"How about the iPhone 5? Apple's A6 processor is speedy to be sure, but the Tegra 4 nuked it. When we benchmarked the iPhone 5 we got 1640 on Geekbench and 27 fps on GLBenchmark's Egypt HD offscreen benchmark, which tests graphics power. The Tegra 4 scores 4148 on Geekbench and 57 fps on the Egypt HD. Pow."

Just wait and see. Like that article says, Qualcomm are bringing out a new generation as well.

More interestingly though, IT's (Imagination Technologies) series 6 PowerVR chips (best known for being the GPU in Apple's devices and Intel used them for some Atoms as well) are available now to OEMs now. They'll blow both Nvidia and Qualcomm out of the water with ease.

Nvidia also fail for not supporting OpenGL ES 3.0. Tegra really is not as impressive as you think.

Hopefully, phone makers will be able to cook ROM's good enough to use the chipset. I have faith in ZTE, the Grand X IN is an absolutely bitching phone for how much it costs, although it's a whole different platform altogether (Epic Citadel runs at ~45 FPS's on 960x540 on it, considering it's a single-core, dual threaded Intel Atom with a PowerVR SGX540, this is pretty great). Hopefully the same level of work will be put in Tegra 4 handsets.

On one hand, i find it extremely cool which power todays smartphones carry.
On the other hand, they should focus on more important things first, like better battery life.
That much power isn't really needed. Maybe if one wants to use it as a portable mini console and stream the games to your tv.
