90% of the time ingame i am getting around low to high 40's fps with very high settings, x2 MSAA, x16 AF, 1440x900 with the only thing turned down is shadows & shading to "high" instead of "very high" which seems to have a huge impact boost on my system performance and its not even noticeable to my eyes with very high shadows & shading turned down to high. Everything else i have on "very high" settings and it provides a smooth gaming experience.
Also i would like to point out - there is not a much of a difference visually with all High settings vs all Very High settings with Crysis 3 that i noticed personally.
The graphics are remarkable to say the least - the best looking game to date so far.
i7 3770k @ 4.6ghz - CM Hyper 212+ (two) 120mm Push/Pull (delidded 5.0ghz stable achieved, not needed "yet")

Sapphire 7970 VaporX @1200Mhz core/1600 Mhz memory
16GB G.Skill Sniper DDR3 1600 - 500GB SataII HDD

Thermaltake Versa II Case - (six) 120mm fans

What you mean, you don't notice the tessellation and shadows on particles? You must be blind!

Tone down the contrast and saturation, it looks bad. Oversharpening is hilariously horrid.

It's not really the saturation though, just the sharpening adds a needless grainy effect that's out of place.

You know... MaLDo is onto something, but the problem is with the phisics in general I think. Whenever I look at some object from the world that's moving it runs like shit, even if there isn't much stuff on screen otherwise. For fuck's sake, it was running just fine with just as many things on screen in the first level, for the most part.

Look at the grass color. Look at Psycho's skin color. It is way too oversaturated.

Bad luck i think, crysis does not like you're sysytem. Perhaps a patch will fix things for you in the future.

I didn't understand one thing...
Spoiler: | Why is New York encased in a dome? And why are the inwards of it so neglected and abandoned? I gather CELL have stored there the system with which they produce unlimited energy and which in turn sell to the rest of the world. For protection from any opposing outside force? But why would they leave the state of that area in ruin and decay then? |

This game seems to be designed to be played with dat bow/stealthily/like a predator/hunter.
I find it plays way differently than both C1&2 actually. I kinda like it. The first area, was like the ship mission in DX:HR Missing Link DLC. Sweet
It's funny. 3 Crysis games, all play differently and in each successive game the story is being retconned.
This one retcons the plot of C2 and re-retcons C1 (I mean expanding on the retcons C2 introduced). Apparently Prophet knew exactly what would happen to him in the beginning of C2 when he sacrificed himself, meaning he didn't give a fuck about Alcatraz, even if Alcatraz was a 100% healthy soldier, Prophet would still take him over just cause Way to go Prophet

I forgot when but you do get a message / log from the suit about the status of Alcatraz, I never noticed getting that message but when I was browsing through the unlocked notes I found one about him.
Spoiler: |
Essentially a second profile for the suit but too corrupted and damaged to be re-installed due to the exposure to the XenoCeph "cloud" in the end of Crysis 2, interesting.
|
(The epilogue is also pretty odd but the story as said has been changed around a bit by now.)

Derptek, please stop with this nonsense shit and-- oh wait, like crysis 2 this was the work of some sci-fi genius they hired.
Ok, just have the guy from the original handling this on the next one.

IMHO the first one was stupid beyond measure. The Second one was just like pulp scifi paperback. I actually liked few ideas from Crysis 2 story.

I liked the the Crysis 1's story. It was not good, but it was straight forward, simple and served to give context to the gameplay in a nice way. And for what it is, I think it's fine. The first contact with aliens is always an interesting experience in gaming. Crysis 2 however tried to be too much and worst they decided to change so many things from 1. I lost interested when I realize 1 had barely anything to do with 2, it put me off the story. The lack of continuity is never a good thing unless the writer(s) know exactly what they are doing, which in gaming, is rarely the case. I'm still waiting for my new PC to play 3, so we'll see.

I think the narrative/plot in this one is alright. I'm not talking about the general idea (nanodome lolwut, etc), but so far the dialog etc, flows much much better than in C2. It's average, but average of the okay to good kind. It also feels more human.
And since some people have a hard time seeing some of the upgrades they made to their engine, here's what I noticed with my reduced quality config:
- Way faster booting and loading times. Like cut in half or more.
- In C2, after the end of every mission, a "here's where you have to go" video was playing, in the style MW1 introduced, but the game wasn't simultaneously loading in the background. So you had to watch the video (or skip it) and then you had to wait for the game to loooooad. This obviously wasn't what they intended, God knows what happened and they had to make it like this. In C3, while the video is playing the game loads in the background (and it loads MUCH faster as well, as I already said).
- Redone particles for explosions and shit.
- Water caustics. Soooo sweet. Is there even any other game that has this? (Come to think of it Dear Esther does, and it looks good! but not nearly as dynamic and awesome of course )
- Whole new facial animation tech. Amazing detail in the faces, and pretty good animated. Huge upgrade compared to C2, where I thought they were actually a downgrade from C1, while perhaps C3 is the industry leader right now.
- Dense grass, like in no other game.
- The AI does not get stuck as much as it did in C2. Not that it's great, but C2 shipped with terrible AI bugs that never got fixed.
- Lens flares, chromatic aberration and other stuff of that type.
- The latest in AA techniques in place of 1) their own temporal AA and 2) very old FXAA version they used in C2.
Of course there are other upgrades too, but because of the different environments etc, you can't directly compare them.
