EA financial results revealed!

First, the big news, the report breaks down earning by platform. PC delivered $276 million, the Xbox 360 $292 million and the PS3 $267 million. So the EA, one of the biggest publishers in the world, made more money from the PC than from the PS3.

Now, this is interesting.

Impressive, considering that piece of crap of Origin and the Tortanic. BF3 probably contributed a lot on PC, as expected. (and the Sims franchise Laughing)

Last week I downloaded Battlefield 3 over 2 and a half days, I left the PC on the entire time, the highest I saw it go was to 1.2mbs, and the lowest at 30kbs

Today I'm trying to re-download Crysis 3 on another PC and it's going at 144kbs

I've never had decent speeds on this, does anyone get them anywhere?
I always had unreal speeds, actually Laughing

My line's max spped is 1,8MB/s yet origin always seems to DL stuff at 2,5-3MB/s. Surprised

I actually get really good speeds (got as high 10 MB/s, with 3.5 at the lowest). For all its flaws, I really appreciate this aspect.

It differs a lot. On a good day, I'll get to about 9 MB/s. But just like Uplay, there are days where even 100 KB/s is a stretch. Nowhere near the constant guaranteed 14.5 MB/s I can get off Steam Smile

Ok, if you're having bad download speeds from Origin, change your DNS. For instance, don't use OpenDNS or Google DNS if you're in Europe, try using a local DNS server and try again Smile

Downloaded BF3 and all expansions (~18GB I think) in less than 2 hours.

steam, origin, uplay, all system resource hogs that aren't otherwise necessary for the end user. When they were pushing these digital distribution platforms a few years back they were supposed to make it cheaper for gamers to purchase games. That never happened.
If anything prices have gone up steadily for the convenience of gamers to not have to go out their front door to buy a game that comes without a disk, box and manual.

Apparently the reason why digital copies arent very cheap is because they don't want the stores to unable to sell games. Atleast thats what i've heard, but it feels really anoying to pay more for a digital copy than a physical

shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

so cut out the "middle man" so they can maximize their own profits.. Figure the only reason why Origin is a success is because they are slowly cutting off distribution channels, so gamers are left with little choice other then to purchase directly from Origin.
Read recently somewhere that EA actually changed the ToS on one of their recent Mass Effect games, which in effect made owning the physical copy of the game useless. You had to re-download and reinstall the whole game via origin.

Totally agree, doesn't seem right that you have to pay more to get less for your money.

Can't remember if it was EA or not, but didn't someone already release a game to retail that was just an empty cardboard box with instructions to download the game?

Digitally distributed games ARE cheaper. The base price drops quicker and you have very deep discounts frequently. Buying singleplayer games on release is for people with more money than brains. It's a kind of stupidity tax. Razz

Yes, the C&C Collection Smile

Basically a DVD-box with an Origin download code on a card.
