Traded a few gems for boots with 25% increased movement speed. I feel like Speedy Gonzalez, arrriba, andele andele!!!
Really the best way to get stuff in this game is to farm gear or currency, turn the gear you dont need into either currency or trade with stuff you need, orbs etc

I traded for above mentioned boots and armor with 5 linked gemslots. But I've found some nice stuff while playing so the loot drops arent that bad but still takes forever to get anything good. Kinda reminds me of diablo 3, but luckily the stuff you find are more talored to your character. In D3 you could get an axe with high intelligence value which sucked for a melee character for instance.

I dont know why people always bring D2 in ffa loot discussion. Was ffa something that people universally loved in Diablo 2 , something you could proudly put on a "feature list"?. Because from what I remember it was always very dividing issue and what attracted people to that game were different features.
If there is something that D3 done right - it is getting rid of that crappy ffa system.

Just started playing this game, how does trading work? i saw there is a trade channel but how do you actually trade, and is there some offline way of trading (yes i know a ah would suck) like a market in a cityhub or something like that?

actually is like this :

press enter in trade channel, to be able to see items attributes.
open your inventory cause you canot directly compare that item with what you have equiped. mouse over repeateably over your item and chat item.
eventually die becasue a mob out of view one shotted you. and of course you have no portal open, and the region had no wp.
you woke up in town and start the process again.
right click on name/whisper and type : hey dude, i want xxx. want you want for it ?
1' case : get the fuck out noob, you dont know that you need to whisper me the price you want for it ?
2' : no answer. cause you dint gave a price.
3' : you get back : how much can you offer ? at this point, you probably have no ideea how much that item is worth, cause you dint play in beta. so .. you lets say 1 alch. you got a reply back : are your kidding ? 3 chaos, and only because im nice. you tell back that you have only a chaos, 2 alc, 1 scouring, 2 chromatic, 35 whatever., he will replay what it will not accept less than 1 chaos, 5 alc, 3 scoring, 1 fusing, and you can shove those 35 in your ass. after more pleasent and wasting time conversation you agree for xxx price, and at that point it will whisper back that he sold that item for 3 chaoses.

4: he will whisper back with the price (or if you proposed a fair price that he will accept), you agree, invite him in a party, check his location, ask him in what dificulty he is, teleport there, right click on the name and trade. you need to mouse over his item for accept button to be active.

after the trade is finish, you get back to your quest progresion and see that the map is reseted, mobs respawned, your portal is gone, and that place had no wp.

just an ah would be fine, thanks.

i could live with the current trade system anyway if they at least implement compare items from the idiotic spam fest that is the trade channel with my items.
ideally i would like to see in that shit spam fest at least the number of socket and links between, without me to do anything. like in drops. pressing enter and mouse over one, sucks hard.

from my pov, in this year is retarded to limit people in instanced trade chat (because you dont have access to the whole number of people.) is retarded to rely to sell your stuff by spamming a chat channel, and is more retarded to sell stuff on an unorganized forum, in which the topic you currently look at is moved to page 3 in the matter of 5 minute.
the worst retarded trade "bug" i found is the need to split scrolls for example to sell at npc traders, cause if you sell one scroll, or a whole stack, you get the same amount of shit. so you need to split the stack 40 times. or this is another hardcore feature, not a bug ? it must be, i presume it works this way since cb. how about when you have 400 of those ?

and is more retarded to think that hey diablo have ah, so it must blow and suck. if you implement any form of ah in my precious game, i will quit. god forbid to be able to sort items by the number of sockets/links for example, in a heavy centered on loot game.

today bored at work i had the time to read the poe forum. the amount of people who thinks poe is a trully hardcore arpg makes me cry.

they have a really solid core, but for me the whole package feels like an alpha stage, without clear goals in their mind.

Portals dont go away, only after 8-15 minutes.
I dont expect a trade would take that long.

Cant understand how many ppl are bitching on this game, when they clearly have no idea how it actually works.

how much time you expect to spent tailoring a white 4/5 links item to your liking ? including the trade conversation itself ? resorting and configuring again gem combinations ? all the stuff that i post, are true, and were happened to me. and not only once. i wrote them in a funny style, i was not bitching about it.
you really need to smile a bit often.

and for some time in the beginning because of the amount of people they lowered the time to 6-8 minute i think. they dint had the hardware to support the crowd.

yeh, i really have no ideea how the stuff works.

I take it you wont put a TP up when you start your conversation, but only when you both agreed to trade.
Then going to town, trade and take tp back should never take more then 2 minutes.

I've seen this but it doesnt tell me what I want to know; theyre value, so no idea what to vendor for what.

Is there one of these currency's thats accepted as a standard form of currency in trades and i should be working toward hoarding?

If you're looking for orb values;

http://www.poeex.info/

Of course, this isn't set in stone, but it can be used as a general guideline. Values are based off of CB and only been adjusted a bit since OB started, so the high-end orbs might be listed higher than what most people are willing to trade for right now (everyone loves their alchs), but it's something.

Thats getting close thanks! Still doesnt shed light on what I should be hoarding, but this is going to be very very handy for trades.

Maybe im missing the entire point of this new system lol, but I feel like I Should be at least hoarding something if not gold Forever Alone

because it happend often to die during trade whispers/items comparing and in merciless i can lose 30 min of experience gain in a mere second, i put a tp up and teleport to town as soon as i see an item that is worth something in trade. got shitloads of tp scrolls, and losing 5-10 minute is way better than losing 30+ minute.

This is why trading in this game sucks. With no way to centrally browse/list items for sale and no currency trading is doubly bad. There is basically no way to figure out item value unless you follow the market and connecting buyer and seller is very difficult. In a system like this savvy traders will rip off the uninformed masses like crazy.

well d2 was the same. The currency was soj's, with 40 perfect gems = 1 soj and runes with value of soj's as well. So i guess some of the orbs .. orb of chaos ?, acts as "1" and everything is then calculated from it.

thats how they intend to do it in poe aswell.
issue is that you get more orbs leveling new chars to 40 vs playing your lovely main char (in the same amount of time), because of dm on curency. combined with the shit drop rate of high end maps ... you get a really boring worse than korean grindfest game. in which you are pretty much forced in shit ffa partys, because in solo mode, drops sucks.
and partys - zerging aoe spamfest. you are unable to see anything on screen.

so i just started this game and i really like it. i keep running into a problem with my skill mappings though. its kind of touchy about even letting me map my weapon specific skills to the same keys. i can usually get it with a bit of fiddling around though...but then every time i close the game it forgets and reassigns all my skills to random keys again.

Low fps? Whats your specs? Runs even 60 fps locked on my shitty Phenom II x3 & HD 5650 laptop. Runs like 300 fps on my main rig Very Happy
