doesn't really mater, there are dozens of places like that to farm (and some are just crazy, like the hidden weapon boxes in space, they can be farmed for like 5-7 items/take) and it really means nothing, its a single player game not a mmo or even a normal multiplayer to exploit and own others. Oh and i think as well it is not a glitch rofl, if you check, even those places that had artefacts, the second time or next playthrough has resources. People jump around to some silly conclusions sometimes
also i find it nice that they let us decide, either gather resources and make the weapons or pay money like a retard for those resources. Would any of us like more if they said: "hey fuck you if you want these <special weapons> you have to buy them, no way to craft or find them in game, and look how awesome they look and deal damage" ? I don't think so, at least they put both options on the table.

EA just cant win with people, lol.
EA does something greedy -EA SUCKS screams the masses
EA says 'we're not going to patch-out a way to get around microtransactions' -EA SUCKS screams the masses
that system, which i dont have a problem with, was only made for people who are too lazy to spend time getting resources, or want to upgrade themselves to stay ahead of the challenge curve... and i think the fact that EA isn't going bitch-shit to remove areas where you can farm stuff, shows that theyre not quite as shitty as everyone will eagerly claim.
and besides.. i dont get why people are lolling at this.. isn't this exactly what ea said, and what we had HOPED, the case would be? where you DONT need to pay to succeed, you can spend a bit of time and still have access to everything?
all that hype and anger over NOTHING. they arent getting upset and patching out farming locations just to make more money, the paid cheats system doesnt exclude shit from you during average pay... and yet people still get pissy about it or think they've ONE-UPPED ea by discovering that you DONT have to pay for the voluntary non-exclusionary system!!
honestly, fuck gamers these days...

Well as much as think EA is the greater evil in gaming in these times, I have to agree with what you both say.

On that particular place it seems more like a glitch than anything else, honestly.
As a whole he's right, I don't see anything particularly wrong with that resource-earning mechanic (especially after playing it, it's easy to get tons of resources if you just bother exploring the maps a bit), I just think the way they chose to address this is quite funny.

EA can be surprisingly benevolent at times, like when they didn't remove the endless amount of games grabbed with the free 10$ coupon some months ago Gabe would have wanted 'em back

Good. They don't deserve to win with people. | It's funny, playing the original Dead Space now and going back to that year it seemed the were on the right track... Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Mass Effect and Dragon Age, Spore...
Now fast-forward to this year.
Sequels of sequels, threethreethree... well, at least the shit DRM is back too (hopefully only on SimCity).

Well finished the game and really enjoyed it though I started to get a bit bored by the amount of necro's around the last five or so chapters. The whole climax of the convergence seemed a little WTF as well but I guess I'll pick more up on the second playthrough.

well actually my point is that people are idiots and ea is a convenient scape-goat so that they dont have to acknowledge their own failures.
people are so quick to hate on EA for microtransactions and dlc, all the while blissfully ignorant of the fact that gamers are the ones who keep reinforcing to ea that they WANT dlc because they cant stop buying the shit.
wouldnt be so bad if people realised that they were a part of the problem as well.
Interinactive wrote: | "We''ll derp up your IPs, buy out and close studios, charge you through the teeth for any little thing, put online requirements in your SP games, pump out the same shit each year, The Sims 3: Yellow Dishcloth expansion, etc etc, err nerr, why dun you like us!?!?"
They don't deserve to win with people. |
like what valves doing? what with all their games requiring an online connection, microtransaction shit up the ass for tf2, dota, and while releasing something every year would be a stretch for them, theyve basically released the exact same counter strike game every time, except each year its becoming more "derp", left 4 dead 2 started production 6 months after the first game, and its pretty much the exact same thing... even portal 2 was "more derp" than the original....
and news flash.. if people didnt WANT the same shit every year, they didnt WANT dlc, and little expansion packs... they wouldnt keep buying them.

again, thats my point... valve is doing pretty much the same thing, but they get blind adoration for it... ea is doing nothing that other businesses aren't, so i dont see why they deserve any less, or any MORE, scorn than others get. Theyre a business. their job is to see what the market as a whole WANTS, and give it to them.
if theyre the ruthless money-grubbing bastards everyone makes them out to be, then ALL of their actions are nothing more than a reflection of what the public wants and will most quickly and easily open their wallets for.
and as for your second point.. again, thats what im getting at. Either ea will up their quality and do better next time, or they'll do miserably with that franchise. I know for a fact that they will be analysing reviews, seeing where it failed, and will do what they can next time to make the game more attractive so as to make a better profit.
I just dont think its fair to have it both ways. Either EA is nothing but a greedy company out to make money - in which case everything it does is based on what their research tells them CONSUMERS want the most, so as to generate the greatest profits (in which case why are gamers any less to blame given that its their consumption habits that are driving EAs decisions), or you accept that EA is not purely money driven.
personally i think they most definately ARE profit driven, which is why i also believe that the majority of their customers are the reasons for the decisions EA have made (especially in the growth of dlc, and the decline and 'dumbification' and samey'ness of games.) - so as much as i dislike decisions made by EA, i believe that consumers deserve just as much blame for reinforcing EAs business decisions.... the rise of dlc is a great example of this.
and THATS why i think EA does deserve to occasionally "win" with gamers, because they are NOT blameless in the mess that gaming has become.

Jokes aside, it's incredible how they managed to fuck up at least 3 solid franchises (not talking about sales of course, those have been good, sadly ), without mentioning the Kotick-like policy adopted for BF, the SWTOR tortanic, the Syndicate aberration, the insane idea of F2Ping
C&C, the draconian DRM in Simvillage V (because 200m^2 built up areas don't deserve to be called cities) and probably other facepalm-worthy stuff that I've forgotten

Can't believe i thought this would end well. That ending was awful.
Spoiler: | The moon as the last boss? wtf.. Atleast they could've made Danik a meaningful character by having us fight him in someway instead of him getting impaled randomly. Did not see that anticlimax coming tbh. |

I am playing it right now.
it seems to be a cool action game, nothing more.
Graphics are really nice. Just some low poly and poor textures here and there but overall it looks nice.

its either gameplay scripted (cant see single reason why to turn them off... ) or it is some kind of bug. I hope it is the second one, bug, and to fix it with patch. This is maybe the feature that like the most in DS3...
