There's not (AFAIK) but the regular camera is fast enough for me to easily pull off a 180º
... wait a minute, are you playing this with a derptroller?!
If that's the case,
and I guess a 180º button would make more sense then.
What's so funny about using a controller, especially when the game is available on console also? Should I play DmC on a PC with a mouse too, even though it's much more playable with a gamepad? I'm not gonna switch to kb/mouse so I can turn around quickly which is not the same as having a quick-turn button anyway. They've done it right since RE4, even Deadly Premonition had the option. Why is Dead Space so different?

If that's your philosophy, which happens to be mine, you should be playing this with KB&M.
That's why your question is so retarded. What self respecting shooter has a fucking quick turn button? CoD (well, self-respecting... still a shooter)? BF3? TF2? L4D? Dishonored?
Just because some of the console shooters have it, doesn't mean everything should. If anything, it's the console shooters that are obviously compensating for the crapness that is aiming with a gamepad.

Actually Hawken has quick U-turn button. And it's not even a console game. Anyway I was irritated by it and though it was a bug. There's no place for dedicated button for 180-turns in shooters.

My question made perfect sense, retarded my ass. L4D on the Xbox360 had the similar option. The aiming is not the problem, but when there's one necromorph in front of me and the other one is waving his claws behind me on the screen, I need to turn around as quickly as possible with a fast single click of a button, not turning manually, even with a mouse or analog stick. You have to admit, it's a major flaw in a game like this.

KB+M here, the same way I've played all DS games from the start. Actually tried using my xbox game pad with the game for a few minutes and while not terrible, the turning and aiming were not precise enough to my liking.

I can turn around pretty fast using the mouse, therefore the flaw is not in the game but in the input method you chose.
So according to you all of these people playing this game on a console are doing it all wrong and should blame themselves using a controller? That's not retarded at all.
I don't see a problem with using the 360 pad for this game.. I usually use it for 3rd person games..
Handy to go in other room, turn on the big screen and play on the couch relaxed (hence why i gave my 360 away)

No, but people playing it on a PC at least have the option of using an input that allows for faster turning.
Not the devs fault if you don't want to use it.
Anyway who knows if they might patch it in.
However since the first 2 games didn't have it (I _think_) guess you're SOL and JWF

Same here. I just don't understand that lame PC elitist attitude laughing at people who prefer using a gamepad on a PC, especially 3rd person shooters like Dead Space. You can use your mouse and keyboard in Eve Online, go ahead, but with games that have a solid gamepad support (even MMO's like TERA), I always pick a controller without any problems.

Well, I say it is exactly developer's fault for not adding that option. "Take that laughably out of place rolling animation, but no way we give you a quick-turn too!" What were they thinking? They are just as strubborn as Capcom with their "no shooting while running" crap. Eventually they had to give up and do the right thing, because since RE4 it didn't make sense anymore. Same with Dead Space - it just doesn't make sense unless they are trolling around and doing it on purpose. Lazy design either way.

Yes, it is. Shooters are the one genre that originated on the PC and thanks to console developers and gamers wanting that on gamepads, things like quick turn buttons and auto aiming have made their way into some games, only because the gamepad can not handle a specific type of game.
I have no objections to using a gamepad, I myself use one for plenty of genres. Shooters aren't among them.
It's not "elitist" at all, but why the fuck should we KB&M users get a degraded game? And yes, when a game is really built for gamepads, it either plays like absolute crap with a mouse or the game is so easy that it's no fun with a mouse. There are tons of shooters which I play on whatever the hardest setting may be and then still get bored because there's no fucking challenge left. Because the game had to cater to what essentially is an inferior input method for that genre enemies die quicker, need 27 clips to take away 2 HP and have little to no AI. In addition to that, many of these have tons of acceleration which can't always be removed, because obviously for a gamepad you need that, but with a mouse it's fucking annoying because 1:1 input works fine on a mouse. If I move my mouse 10 centimeters I want that to have the exact same effect, regardless of whether I do it at 1mm per second or 100m per second.
Do you see any fucking racing games or fighting games take away analogue input because keyboards can't do that? No? Then why the fuck should the reverse happen?
It's not PC gamers being elitist. It's console gamers refusing to accept that a gamepad just does not fit every genre. The difference is that where a PC gamer will happily plug in a gamepad if that works better -because we can do that-, a console gamer will stick a fucking pen in his eye before he uses KB&M. It's the console gamers that are being elitist about their goddamn gamepad. There, I said it.
In this case it may only be a quick turn button, but that's not the point. You're part of the reason why 99% of all shooters out there are boring as fuck. Come back when you can play Quake 3/Quake Live or any other shooter with a bit of a pace on your gamepad. Until then, KB&M will remain superior for shooters and people complaining about the game not being simplified for gamepads can suck my balls. Heck, even CoD's pace is too quick when you pitch gamepad against KB&M.
You can use lots of things "without any problems" but there's still better things out there. For example, I can use a 200€ phone without any problems, but a 500€ phone will be better. Just like a mouse and keyboard are simply better for precise aiming, even if you can use a controller without any problems.

Well, i kinda have to agree with the fact that if you use a controller, the turning is really fucking slow (unless you turn up the sensitivity) and having such a "u-turn button" would be really handy.
But on the other hand, in this game, i think it adds to the gameplay by not having it.
It makes you always more on edge due to having something coming from behind, it forces you to look behind you more often and give a little boost to the actual scare it tries to give you.

Better learn to play it since it seems that there are a lot of people out there that don't feel the need of a quick 180º button... for all the three games of the series released until now

Boring. Same talk about consoles ruining everything. Yawn...
We are talking about only one simple thing here - a quick-turn option for gamepad users. If you prefer keyboard and mouse and don't care for that, it's okay - weather that option exists somewhere under settings menu's or not, it doesn't concern you either way since you're not going to use it, right? But for people like me who prefer using a gamepad in 3rd person shooters, it is a major flaw. And whining, crying about good old Quake or CS days, how everything's ruined now is a tired cliche. Those days are over, consolitis is here to stay. If you can't accept it, maybe it is time to stop playing.

Yeah right, that's what you like to hear. Just google "no quick-turn dead space" and see what comes up. There were also a lot of people who seemed to not care about "running while shooting" since RE4, but guess what happened? Who knows, there might be a quick-turn in DS games after all. Just admit it, you're bored and just want to argue...
Yes
The game is entertaining but this forum is more, I can't help myself
Also the pulse rifle was badly nerfed... but double fast firing plasma cutters are enough for pretty much anything the game has thrown in my way so far

Just started playing this. Very disappointingly "cinematic!! " so far. Worse than DS2.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Boo. Fucking. Hoo. One game where your chosen input method doesn't work the way you want it to work - and not because the game fucks up your input, but because your input method isn't capable of doing what you need it to do. Now, want me to start listing out the games that have fucked up mouse controls because they were built for gamepads? I guarantee you that I'll win. The game does things right on this front so suck it up, us "elitists" have been doing it for years. Almost every game released from 2008 till early 2011 has had the same major flaw for me.
"If you can't accept it, maybe it is time to stop playing."
The first 9-10 chapters are pretty much like the first two games. Dank corridors and sunless rooms. The sense of dread is again realized in the form of sudden out-of-nowhere scares, though. But it's the same ol' same o'l for now. Haven't played past that point to say how it fares till the end.
The check-point system works in a really dumb way with some of the game's scripts...
Further in the game you have some sidepaths in which you will find resources; in one of these there's a script in which a fanatic blows his own head off as soon as you see him.
Guy already blew his head off 4 times on my game
