I feel sorry for the people who paid 45 euro's for this piece of crap on steam. Can anybody tell me why there is a 3d view with buildings and cars driving around town when I only have to do is click on icons? If I wanna click on square tiles untill I get a stroke, i'll buy a copy of Windows 8...
This doesn't even come close to the original Gangsters. Thank god for pirate demo's...

Lawyers seem to completely negate the heat you get from businesses (at least when the police presence is very low-low). Raids, drive-bys, firebombing still raise heat, unless you send a hitman (Mario Tucci). No heat gain that way, though that guy is pretty useless in tactical encounters. I am getting attacked pretty regularly during raids and even drive-bys now. Jobs are also risky, doing jobs with that Russian guy often gets you into battles (if you want the stuff you paid for), also Kinglsey can set you up, though rarely.
You can attack banks (done 3 of those so far, one encounter had soldiers), raid national guard armories and police stations for more firearms.
Edit: Negate and lower, apparently. My heat's been juggling between 2-3 stars. I think it depends on how much businesses you have. I'm wondering what happens when you have more than one lawyer office.

Just beat the campaign on Hard. Took me more or less two days of solid playing. The game was well worth the $25.50 I paid for it, even if the entire multiplayer component is a tacked on, unbalanced, piece of shit.
For those complaining about the difficulty (or rather lack thereof), you obviously haven't progressed very far into the campaign. The last mission has you outnumbered no less than 4 to 1. Have fun with that one, as I managed to beat it just by the skin of my teeth.
Sure, the management side of the game was like Tropico lite, but the combat in addition to it more than made up for it. Whereas X-COM was all about having an exact team makeup and all but having to follow a specific research path, this one let's you experiment a lot more. It also helps that it doesn't suffer from the camp-centric overwatch gimmick or dropping enemies out of the fucking sky among you (here they spawn on the edges and have to chase you down).
All this needs is a custom map/mission editor for sandbox and it'll be fucking golden.
The MP on the other hand, unless they implement a matching system that pits people of similar gang-member and equipment levels together, isn't worthy of even being tried.

Gangsters 2 was a complete joke. The original looks good, but only if you're willing to trawl through a hundred twenty page manual (the tutorials consists of no directions other than have you read the manual and do what the manual says in the game). Not knocking it, but I'm only willing to put in that kind of reading time on flight sims!
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

I'm in the second section of the city and I got a mission to take care of someone's "pest problem". It says to look for a blue hotel with an eye icon above it, but I have scoured the area numerous times and cant find it. Does anyone know what to do here?

Some very old, though still playable: Gangsters 1+2 (the original is better), Chicago 1930.

Never heard of this game until I saw your post. I downloaded a GOG version and it's pretty fun. Definitely better than Omerta where I might as well be watching paint dry.

It's a fun game. I actually thought Omerta would be a hybrid between Gangland and Gangsters. Kind of taking the best of both and merging it with Tropico elements. It's too bad it turned out to be a dissapointing game with little replay value. If it was well received maybe the sub-genre would have seen better days. Not very likely now...

Gangland was a pretty decent game as was the follow-up (I think) paradise city
It was one of the first big games using starforce, if I recall correctly, and eventually the only way to get it to run was to physically disconnect your CD drive.

I'm sorry to hear that.
This is actually first game after Mass Effect 3 that I finished and actually had fun with, enjoyed it in every aspect. It's a gem for me.
