Well they have to let the jailbreak out around now or they would lose a lot of it's 'sheep'.. woops i mean customers' on the new iphones/ipads coming out soon.

Got an old iPhone 4 here. Updated to ios 6.1 and realised I have no way of activating it! Does anyone know if there are any preactivated iOS 6.1 firmwares out there in the wild yet?

no, developers were given enough time to update their apps. every important tweak has either been updated or was already working fine with ios6.

Nice, my ipad doesn't want to update it seems. I press "software update" and it just searches and searches without finding any updates. Is there some feature in the previous jailbreak that prevents you from accidentally updating or something?

not that i know of. but you should do a restore to 6.1, not an update. do a backup in itunes and then use the restore function. after that you can perform the jailbreak and then restore the backup.
