Well, I guess I was really terrible at this game. I played on the normal difficulty (I think it's called Demon hunter) and from 6th mission and on I usually ended up with like 2 deaths in each mission. Never used a golden orb though as I consider it a cheat and simply don't like the idea of it.

There is no difference between using a golden orb and continuing the game after dying apart from the style rating.

Really? I thought it ressurects you where you died, instead of continuing from checkpoint.

Oh yeah, that too. But there are so many checkpoints in this game that it barely matters Smile Plus The style point impact of a death is higher than of a green orb.

Oh I don't really care about style points. I'm just happy if/when I pull off some flashy combo. Smile

getting high style rankings is so easy in this game anyway, they completely changed the system.
you just have to kill enemies without getting hit and waiting too long to reach high ratings, in the old games you had to constantly mix up your moves to raise the rating, and if you waited even a second without doing anything, it would start dropping rapidly.

This is what was changed in the patch. I think now it keeps going down.

I think the dialogue is pretty ok for this game. Sure, you don't get any high quality writing. But for me that trash talk suits this game.
Not so in some other games, where it often seems to be to forced.

And the music is great Surprised Also there doesn't seem to be much variety in it Sad

I just bought this. I don't want to bother with downloading this again, if anybody owns this: What's the Steam folder name? Since the downloading folder you can't just copy/paste content, you need to know what the folder name is and create it before installing the game. So does anyone know?

For the music:

I like it Very Happy

"DmC Devil May Cry"

(You might need to do a full file validation just after the download starts since it's using the updated content format.)

And I was wondering, how come that I never die in this game, maybe it's because it's just the beginning.. Laughing . Son of Sparda seems to be locked so I'll go for that Nephilim.

First there's just those three normal difficulties, then Son of Sparda is unlocked and after that you unlock Dante Must Die and after that there's those special modes, Heaven and Hell plus Hell and Hell. (These also exist in the Vergil - Virgil? - DLC according to the achievements for it.)

Son of Sparda is a bit tougher, you face stronger enemies much earlier on for example.
(Unsure how much of a step up the Dante Must Die difficulty is after that.)

I played a bit of first one on PS2 and I like this one more. Even it's easy and ridiculous. I'd only like to have more elaborate boss battles (I'm playing Dark Souls in the meantime Smile)

Son of Sparda is tougher, not only you face stronger enemies earlier. They also have other attack patterns and the bosses have different attacks.

Dante Must Die is mean, you die on one hit I heard. (not played it though)

No that is Hell and Hell. Dante Must Die is still not that hard, mainly because Ninja Theory didn't seem to want to stack insane waves at the player, ever. The lack of Legendary Demon Hunter is disappointing as well. The nature of the combat makes any mode instantly easier. The whole hard counter weapon mechanics is dumb, it takes away the challenge of chain up different weapons for maximum damage and safety. ie. Hook to disable shields, shuriken to stun or break Witch's shield, red on red, blue on blue. Then just abuse angelic evasion in between 1-3 hits.

The Ninja enemy is an absolute joke. Stand still, wait for him to phase out, when he phase in with the roling attack, jump then slam attack. Shot him once with the dart, then wack him until he stays back up, detonate into a couple more hits, repeat.

Witch, 3 charge-less shuriken (safer and faster than charging a big one), jump and air evade into the witch, pull then punish with infinite air combo, 2-3 repeats should be enough even if you missed your air combo.

The big brute guy, well even easier. If you can't time your fist uppercut, just jump when he charges, then demon pull, hit him twice with arbitor, then full charge uppercut, into arbitor throw, fist slam, repeat.

Big sawblade. Hold demon mode for the entire fight, fist for quick jabs at his stomach, when he is about to hit, demon dodge, if the damage buff connects, goes in asap and do the Arbitor Tremor combo, 2 of it and its dead.

The above strategies works in all difficultly, and that's the problem. It doesn't matter if they add new moves, because the enemies has tells and huge opening during their bread and butter attacks, which they will use on all modes.

Got to the last boss after reading that you don't actually need Devil's trigger and guess what you need to defeat the last boss...
THE FUCKING DEVIL's TRIGGER... God thank you for anonymity because I would actually search the guys address and punch him in the face.
Anyone found a workaround for those that can't activate devil's trigger with K+M?

Just jump when they phase back in. The sawblade is the only one that requires tight timing to do damage efficiently.
