This is for discussing Apple's next iPads proper, not Apple's yet another variant of the previous.

If this turns out true, that would be great, as the iPad mini design is rather good and it is very thin. But to be honest, if the iPad mini 2 rumors are indeed true and it has a 'retina' display (high DPI), I would be going for that. The mini is very comfortable to hold and type. The current mini has a horrible screen, so if the screen is right on mini 2, I'd be drooling on that.

I've lost all interest in buying anything from these fucking scoundrels. Bought "the new ipad" and 6 months later there is a new. Just wait til apple drowns or dies. Having outdated hardware after 6 months is completely unacceptable when it comes to handheld devices I M O.

Yes, because that doesn't happen on Android, with video cards, CPUs, TVs, <insert whatever the fuck you want here>, now does it?
Out of all the reasons I see why people rage about their purchase (regardless of whether it was Apple or not), that definitely ranks among the top 5 of most retarded.

I am tempted by the mini, i use my ipad on the train most and I think it would be handy - not sure if I could live with the drop in screen estate though.
Would HAVE to be retina though, the current mini screen is... SHIT!

I didn't know your "new" iPad ceased working right when the next one came out, or it became less good. You one of these that have to have the latest and greatest, and if something better comes out, you MUST have it or you can't sleep at night?  |

If the screen is retina, it will have the same pixel size as the iPhone 4/4S/5 which is amazing. The screen size is good from what I've seen. Text is shit now, but once it is retina and sharp, it would be great.

I have an iPad mini, it feels much better than the "big" iPad (which I have too). Sadly, as Leo said, the screen sucks, it's not as bad as iPad 1 or 2 or iPhone 2G/3G/3GS since the screen is smaller and rez is still 1024x768, but it's still bad.
Obviously also, the hardware is on par with iPad 2 which makes it quite fast, but much slower than iPad 3, 4 and iPhone 5.
It's a still a good base that Apple got here, and I'm sure the next iPad mini will be much better.

damn, a retina mini would be really tempting. don't know if it's too small for my taste though. had the ipad2 and 3 and i'm very happy with the size.

I actually enjoy retina on my Ipad3 only because it allows me to read comic books and magazines in PDF format in portrait mode without the need to pinch zoom smaller font spots. It's as readable as a real copy. But I'm afraid that's only because of the display size, and on a retina mini PDF/CBR without zoom won't work unless I want my eyes to bleed in 15 minutes...
Today I didn't even need to use my AK. I gotta say it was a good day. (c) - Ice Cube

The worst part of Android tablets is the pathetic amount of actual tablet software as opposed to stretched phone apps.

And yeah, iOS sucks without jailbreaking, thank god, jailbreak is most likely coming this week (and you can indeed reverse it).
Android tablets suck ass IMO and aren't as smooth as iOS... Even though some are more powerful than the iPad Mini, they manage to have apps that run slow (firefox or chrome aren't as smooth as Safari or any iOS browser, including Chrome, for that matter).

Any examples? I still use my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and don't have a single stretched app, I guess.
