Is this one comparable to the old FF games? FF7 for example?

And since I was thinking about getting it, I won't be doing so after all. It's a shame really. Sad

i also noticed that the music playing in the icon screen of psn version was different for me, after a few secs sounds were missing in comparison to the theme usually.
i just deleted the psn version and am gonna try to install it again, this time directly from the internal hdd, the first time i did it via an external ntfs hdd and mmos and i think it may have caused a problem (i hope).

I have only just got my PS3 up to 4.30 rogero as its been sat in the corner of my room gathering dust for the last 18 months. I am on multiman 2.05 and in the process of downloading the PSN version off that PSN Stuff program but I have a couple of questions you might be able to answer

- I hope I can mount my NTFS ext drive using multiman and install the pkg file from that now? I have used FAT32 before but this game is over 4GB, or would I need to split the pkg file into smaller chunks?

- This PSN Stuff program. Where is it downloading this data from? Also is it possible to resume a download? (it has already timed out on me once at about 6GB and I had to restart the DL again)

EDIT: Bah, Just seen the post above mine about NTFS. Guess that answers that one. Might try from internal too

I'm interested in trying out the PSN version as well, hopefully it works.
Just one question though;

do I need to activate the .rap file first using reactPSN, then install the two-part .pkgs on my normal account using an external USB for instance?

yep, after you have activated the .rap file you switch back to your normal account and install from there, i d advise copying it to internal drive first and then installing.

ahh right, the pkgs are of course to big for a normal FAT usb.
where exactly do I need to copy the files to install it from internal? and one more question (if it's not too much trouble Smile); since I'm not currenty home, I can't try this out for myself, but are you still able to sign in to PSN on Rogero 4.30 v2.05?
I read that the PS3 needs to have been online at least once for reActPSN to work; I've been online plenty of times, but like I mentioned in previous posts, my hdd got wiped.. so pretty sure that I don't have the required act.dat (or whatever) anymore. Anyway, is it still possible for me to go to the store and activate something on my psn account?

thanks Smile

just copy them into the "packages" folder on hdd0, then you can start them via multiman´s install package files option.
yes, you can still log onto psn, and you will have to do so, then go to account settings/ activation and activate your ps3, after that leech something small from ps store, for example gt5 corvette.
it should say "activating" after it is downloaded, then you can log off psn and the act.dat should be inside hdd0/home/00000x/exdata folder.

Since Zeel had freezes I thought I'd update a last time on how it's working for me.

I've now played 9 or so hours with the PSN version, no freezes at all. No issues whatsoever. Installed from Internal to Internal.

yes he's the only who has freezing with PSN version so i think it's some other issue specific to his ps3 setup maybe. good to know it's working without issues for you, some light at the end of the tunnel Very Happy

yep, the freeze i am getting isnt random like before, i get after 5 minutes in the field or town, its pretty exact, if i choose the exact same path every time in al mamoor, it will freeze at exactly the same set of steps every time, same for the world map, it will freeze after the same distance, so it definitely has something to do with the audio as it will freeze up at the same spot of the audio, which will still continue on after the video freezes.
its fucking weird Sad

yep, i transferred both pkgs to my internal hdd and installed them straight from there via install package option multiman,
made no difference.
though i really seem to be the only example of this issue and the psn version seems to be working perfectly for everyone else, i ll wait a few days and see...

Wanted to add that for sure your PKG arent faulty because the PS3 has a SHA1 check, and will fail to install corrupted pkg to 100%. So if it installed fine using Install pkg, then that's really really weird :/ For sure, not a bad dl/.

I can absolutely confirm that the PSN version works perfectly. Been playing for about 5 straight hours, through areas that previously crashed, and no problem at all.

yep, it was my fucking internal hdd, i moved the psn version to my external hdd via gamedata app and it works perfectly Very Happy
played 2 hrs so far without a single freeze or hiccup, on internal hdd the psn version would freeze every 5 minutes.
i m so glad this app exists, in future when i have freezes in games i ll simply move the psn games or gamedata to the ext drive. Smile

Can you tell me how that process works?
My ps3 has a 60GB hdd so I'm a bit limited in the number of games I can have installed at a time.

well, for psn games the easiest way is:

download gamedata app and install it, then restart ps3.
on the xmb you should now have the icon saying "GameData [HDD]".
start the app, it will show a black screen for a few seconds, then throw you back to the xmb,
now the icon should say "GameData [USB]".

this means that from now on everything you install, gets installed on the ext hdd (folder "GAMEI")
instead of internal hdd (folder "game").

to switch back to installing on internal, simply start the app again and it will change back to "HDD".

you dont need to reinstall all the stuff if you already have it on internal hdd, simply copy the gamedata or psn games from hdd0/game to usb00x/GAMEI, then switch gamedata app to USB.

Regarding the DUPLEX version and the internal HDD, which program do you guys use to transfer the game to it? Filezilla? It's what I use.

I read someone saying that after his game froze, he deleted everything and re-transfered the game to the internal HDD but using Cyberduck instead of Filezilla, which was what he had used the first time around.

And this fixed PSN version that was mentioned earlier only exists in Blackcats? I would like to test it, but I have no account there. Sad

now that all the technical problems are put to the side, i have to repeat how beautifully designed this game is in every aspect.
the graphics speak for themselves as the art design is second to none in this generation, the gameplay is great and the ost is magnificient; many tunes - especially the golden grove one sounds like theyre taken straight from a snes or psx era jrpg, oh the nostalgia So Much Win
