I believe it doesn't, since no trusted person (reviewers and such) claimed to have freezing issues. There are claims of freezing in some "legit" forums, but as a far as we know they could be playing a pirated copy too.

Freezes happen in retail too. A friend of mine bought it and his game freezes especially just after fights.

Well, at least the chance of it getting fixed increases then. Smile

I've never had a freeze so far but I've stopped playing for now until a patch is released. I don't want to end with a corrupted internal hdd.

I had the restore file system on the 1st freeze when it was on internal, the "restore file sstem" took about 5 minutes ...... but then on the 2nd freeze, I got the "restore file system" again and I managed to cancel myself out of doing it, and didn't have to do it again ...... I think I just pressed the cancel button.
Since going back to external I haven't had a problem ....... yet, apart from the magic book taking 40 seconds to load and I can live with that

Yeah, the first time I got a freeze, I did the restore file system as well. Took a few minutes, but when it was finished, everything worked just fine. However, on the 2nd and 3rd time, I got stuck in the loop of restoring, restarting etc.

I'm pretty sure I never pressed O to skip the restoring right away, only after the system had "restored" the files. So if a freeze were to ever happen again, I can just cancel it right away and go to XMB? Or do you need to be "lucky" for this as well, meaning that you might possibly already be stuck in the restarting loop?

Having lost all my saves kinda freaked me out about the whole freezing issue, especially because none of my other games ever freeze Sad

The Duplex version does match the MD5 from the PSN version (except for the EDAT, EBOOT and SPRX), so the game itself is fine.

So if the PSN freeze doesnt freeze, then I guess the freezes are due to the way Multiman mounts games, and the game reads data. A good way to check this out would be to "CEX2DEX" your PS3, or use rebug in DEX mode, and mount the game using the official Sony BD Emulator. That way, if it doesn't freeze, you know the issue is Multiman Razz

I noticed that some games load faster using the official Sony BDEMU in DEX mode for some reason, than mounting the same game with Multiman. Don't ask me why though. So far, I never experienced a game freezing because of the way it mounts though, just slower loading times.

Hmm, didn't even know there was a PSN version of this game.
Well, if that one really doesn't have any problems, I'm fine playing that version

Hmm too bad..
I read something about trying the newest Iris Manager to mount the game using the new BDEmu, don't know if that really helps either though. Might still be a coincidence if the game doesn't freeze

well either way, there are enough reports of people with original retail disc having the same freezes, so i doubt anything short of an official update will get rid of the issues completely, but i hope i am wrong.

Could the freezes only happen in the northern part of the 1st continent?
Ever since I went south and left the continent I didnt get any freezes, slow loadings or stuttering sounds.

I went back just now to visit old father oak, and it froze.
Anyone having freezes from castaway cove onwards?

Btw, much enjoying the game here, good old jrpg feeling I almost forgot Smile
So glad I got this working after trying for 2 hours..
(have a broken bd drive, it's often a lot of trial and error before I get a game working)

my external hdd is slower than my int, and since i switched to it i ve played through all the ding dong dell quests, went through golden grove, through the desert without having a single freeze (approximately 4-5 hour session), on internal drive i couldnt go 5 minutes inside the sewers without freezing.

yeah, thats what i meant, a depressed turbo button. in the old days the "turbo" button was to slow down the pc, it was usually always on. But nevermind! Very Happy

seems that my hd is slow enough, 5 hours in and only one freeze.

Seems like people reporting the PSN version freezes are bollocks. The PSN version is supposed to run from HDD, so try it, it should be fine. I heard the save arent compatible though so you would need to start again from the beginning.

i'm starting to think that earlier claims where people with original copies and original firmware have freezes are bullshit. i just browsed through 30+ pages of nino kuni threads on gamespot, and coincidentally the only thread mentioning freezing was created around the same time when DUPLEX release leaked.

also, i didn't see a single professional review mention any freezing. so to conclude i think freezes are related to ps3 cfw and all the stuff that comes with it (could be bd emu, or one of multiple patches within cfw, or some other things).

How to transfer saves from Retail to PSN

Quote:

Ni no Kuni BLES01555
Ni no Kuni NPUB30932
PC FTP Client
MultiMan (FTP)
Savegames

Prolog:

Ni no Kuni NPUB30932 uses BLUS30947 for Savegames.
Transfering the Savegame is possible one time per usage,
so save after loading the game!

Preparation:

Create the Savegame in Ni no Kuni NPUB30932.

The Counter must be the same as for BLES,
if you used _00002, save twice to create it!

Make Backup from Ni no Kuni BLES01555 Savegame!

How to:

Start MultiMan

Login via FTP

Change directory to:
"/dev_hdd0/home/00000001/savedata/BLUS30947_00001"

Delete content of the folder

Change directory to:
"/dev_hdd0/home/00000001/savedata/BLES01555_00001"

Move the whole content to:
"/dev_hdd0/home/00000001/savedata/BLUS30947_00001"

Close MultiMan

Start up Ni no Kuni NPUB30932

Load your Savegame

Once the Savegame is loaded, SAVE!

** INFO **

00000001 is the USER ID, if another is used,
take yours, same counts for the Savegame.

After moving the Savegame from BLES01555
you might see a damaged folder in the PS3
menu. Either, delete it or recover your Backup.

Have Fun
