Got a new rig , myself gifted from Christmas Wink

I5 3570 8gb gigabyte z77xud5h gforce 650ti with a big ssd

I wish to install a "free" op system , Ive been satisfied with win 7, should I keep it or take win 8 for the new rig?
Main job of my computer is playing games.

try Win8 + StartIsBack.v1.3-CRD and see if you like it

both OSes have very similar performance when it comes to games and applications (some run slightly faster on win8, others run slightly faster on win7) so it's up to you to decide what you like better.

Windows 8. See how you fare with it vanilla-style. I use it that way and have completely forgotten about the start button.

I barely use that thing, it only pops up when I start my computer. 99% of my time is spent in a browser window, photoshop (icon on the desktop) or launching a game from the desktop.

It of course says a lot about how useful I find METRO.

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

I see no reason why anyone would use win8 -> annoying metro, uninteresting interface, some games released by skidrow not working (fixable i guess but fuck the hassle), dark souls dsfix+fxaa combo not working and no performance improvements in games..
if it aint broken dont fix it.. win8 felt like a step backwards to me.
