|
 |
I've been playing FEAR demo lately and it started going really slow. So I restarted my computer and now after the WIN XP loading screen shows up (the one with the blue bar loading) the screen just goes black on my monitor. I can see that the computer is still running though. The video card fan is still on, and windows is still loading, but nothing shows up. It works without the video card in too, but the video card never got really hot and I never had any artifacts or anything like that. It's a sapphire radeon9800 pro 128mb...I don't get it. Can someone please give me any info on what could be wrong? I do remember though, that when I opened my computer to see what was wrong, there was a cord in the fan of my video card stopping the fan from moving. I moved the cord and now the fan spins good, but the screen still goes black after the windows loading screen. I was also wondering if I could return the card to Sapphire tech instead of the actual store that I ordered it from, only because I forgot where the hell I got it from.
Please any suggestions would be very cool, I've lost so much money in video cards.

The card was probably damaged when the fan stopped.
Email the company that makes it and see if you can RMA it.
Although without the receipt I don't fancy your chances.

As Jenni said, the card might be damaged, but you can try to go into safe mode just to check if it works without the driver loaded.
If you are able to get in, try to install a newer driver or reinstall the old one.
