I have Realtek ALC269 in my laptop and it's also missing equalizer in Realtek Control Panel. I checked on my desktop with Realtek ALC887, it has the software eq.

Windows 7 in both cases

"The ALC269 integrates five hardware equalizer bands composed of one low-pass filter, one high-pass filter, and three band-pass filters to compensate for mini-speaker frequency response. "

They say exact thing for my card, no equalizer. Liars!!!

Did you install just a driver or did you find a driver package? Most manufacturers whether it's onboard audio or sound cards have options to just download the driver installer or a complete package.

I dunno if these are current enough to use but you can try them out. Updated drivers for audio usually aren't that important.

so the equalizer is no where to be seen in their control panel? I remmeber I had realtek once years ago on my 754 socket sytem that used their gay audio chip (C-Media FTW!!) and the equalizer was buried in the windows system 32 folder lol

Have you tried going into the speaker settings in Windows 7/8 and seeing if you cannot access an equalizer from there? That's a new feature of Windows Vista, where there are various "enhancements" you can configure in speaker settings.
