fraps doesnt really give you a good fps really. Using the console to draw fps will get you more accurate results.

Thats right, but not every game has got a console. And the command used to show fps is different for every game or engine. So the easy answer was fraps

But fraps slows the game down to such an extent that it makes it useless to use to check your fps.

Didn't have such problems yet but if that happens it is indeed useless. Probably depends on what game you use it with. Only tried it with BF42...

Yea fraps doesnt slow it down unless you record. Also i'm pretty sure that 99% of games have a console and can draw graphs. just finding the right codes are a pain in the arse. I only use them on cs (net_graph 4) and fps_draw on COD
