Piracy died when ppl started to become precious about Steam collections. That one single platform has turned many from swashbucklers into compulsive owners.

No it's the fact that games have become cheaper and cheaper for us to get.
It used to be that people pirated stuff because the prices are too high... and this is still the case, just look at some products that have high prices but are unique in usage, they still get pirated to shit. Till they become cheaper, and then the same thing happens again.

Yes... Thankfully I asked myself the question "what's the point?" after about two steam sales, then returned to pirating stuff. Now I don't even bother with free stuff anymore, unless it's a multiplayer game that I want.

Oh yeah they are cheaper and there's so many but ppl still fascinate about building up their Steam collection. And Steam is one of the reasons games have become cheaper as well - it's all subliminal so ppl don't even know it's happening

Fundamentally we are all pirates at heart, but of the good kind, since the majority of us like to actually support companies/developers that deserve it.
The forums have changed a lot during the years, now we're basically something close to a conventional forum -minus the hypocrisy, conformism and marketing-slaves a-ka sheeps..err "modern" gamers.

I'm the worst pirate ever in that case, cause I actually buy the games I like (with a hefty discount, but that's another story). 
Also, I'd still be considered a thief according to alot of publishers since I use discounts and proxies and 3rd party websites to buy cheap keys/games.
