Me and my friends are planning on celebrating New Year's Eve, but I dont know what we could do. We think we gonna spend time in my flat eating and them drinking alco, go to the central square at midnight and then watch tv. Maybe play uno cards game, but that is casual. Mad Temperature is prolly gonna be mild, -2 celcius. Need something interesting to do. We are 29 to 30 years old.

What do you mean it doesn't pay off? Are you looking to make a profit or to get fun?

I mean I haven't been to a single costume party which hasn't been fun. Everything is more fun that way, even plain drinking.

Why bother with New Years Eve anyway? What's to celebrate? One year closer to death, another notch on the age stick, another year of wars, recessions, crap and bullshit.

You have more topics to talk about, and also you can do some "roleplaying" to escape from regular everydayness.

Get a lot of beer and snacks, play something like Monopoly, Risk or similar, or watch some movies.

Yeah snacks is a good thing. We need more than we could eat. Monopoly will be kind of too complex coz they will be drunk and I'll be bored. Need fast paced games. Perhaps a mini basketball? Or a bb gun. I wonder if they sell bbgun anymore...

Precisely why it should be celebrated. Unlike all other religious nonsense, a year passing by is something real, the effects of which you have felt and endured. New years and birthdays. Smile

A year is based on the gregorian calendar and we're following a christian calendar. Even the Ottoman Empire adopted the christian calendar. Razz

So it's still all religious bullshit.

Normally I invite over a bunch of people to my house, or we go to a mutual friends house, drink and eat food, bs....etc

This year someone suggested to me "hey lets go to Times Square for new years eve" , I laughed in their face.... fuck that. There are two places you do NOT want to be during the holidays 1. Rockefeller Plaza @ x-mas 2. Times Square during new years. Already did Rockefeller plaza last week, I'm done.

This year, I'm staying home with the lady, maybe we'll have a few people over but that's it. I don't want to go anywhere, or really do anything.... I'm tired.

The year number and month names perhaps. But the month counting resolves around counting solar years, which is a sound metric to count years by.

I'll watch and photograph some fireworks, and eat some food, play some games, be with my gf, and then sleep.

So pretty much like every other day, except fireworks aren't a daily event.

Its easy to hear they have started selling the fireworks tho, 5-6 days before new years eve people start "trying out" their fireworks...

I'll either go to some random last minute party with friends (many of them work until the evening anyway though) or just stay at home, relaxing like this:

having a kiki with my girlfriends best friend.
play wiiu up on the 27th floor overseeing the lake and the toronto islands and seeing fireworks at midnight.

most likely will end up playing portal on my ps3 and watching some mkvs on her small tv. Sad but booze/illegal narcotics/two ladies/video games and really really good pizza.

fun to look at. seeing how better other countries are. how happy other people are. Toronto is a shit hole when it comes to celebrations. looking at this city during any of its many yearly events it makes me want to throw up. it really is hideous. Sad new york even has better celebrations. sydney too. japan is pretty. but toronto... it's like... hey lets spent 5000$ on fireworks, but sir that's good enough for one big dazzler. you're right... that's too much. 50$ it is. Neutral
