Pretty sad really. Imagine having the 'Steam version' of FC3: You'd have to load Steam, to 'load Far Cry 3', to load uPlay, to load Far Cry 3 again

At least they don't consistently shit on the platform and it's users LOL

Your constant ubisoft hating is fucking annoying, just because you stick it in every thread where ubisoft gets mentioned, and you still play and enjoy all their games. So brave.

And how does Ubisoft shit on the platform and it's users? It provides a well-working cloud system that keeps your saves, and you get free stuff for actually playing the game (ie achievements actually mean something).

Oh, and that one time when UBIDRM was still present and it was out for a couple of hours? I got a free game out of that.

Gee, they surely shit on their customers indeed!

It takes around 15 seconds for me to see FC3 go full screen via Uplay from an empty desktop.
It takes just over 25 to do the same via Steam (I tested by starting DXHR).
Uplay launcher is on the SSD though, because it decided that this is where it belongs all by itself Mad. Uplay is not slow at all, unless there are connections issues.

Steam + Uplay integrations are a bit messy though, that's true.

Yeah that seems kinda an odd number, the 50 secs for FC3 to boot up and be in menu...

Took more like 10 here if not lower... Surprised

Forgive me for playing and enjoying, er... resident evil 4? Laughing

And I wasn't only referring to uplay obviously, but it's bad enough especially when comparing it to steam and origin regarding the loading times.

But you are right on the very first phrase, I'm turning into an ubisoft ron/nyuhmeheheenmiun, I need to cut that shit out.
Apologies. Sad

Even if it is just for DLC or similar Ubisoft has at least given pretty good support for their released PC titles although the initial release itself could in many cases have gone much better, heh.

Of course that then warrants the question of why so many patches are needed in the first place...
(But this is unfortunately becoming more and more common, game is rushed out to reach a deadline and then patched afterwards until it works somewhat acceptably.)

10 or so in offline mode, but if I'm online it takes multiple times longer

From pressing play game in uplay till the main menu? That shouldn't matter if you are online or offline..

I assume Valve is on your list as well because of how horrible Half-Life 2 launch went and how horrible Steam was? So not only Valve, but their platform Steam should be on your "boycott" list as well Laughing

I do boycott Valve and Steam to an extent but it's for other reasons like how they shut down WON and forced Steam on us even when it was a broken mess, how they force you to agree to their new TOS and if you don't, you lose all your games, how they locked entire accounts because Paypal acted up, how they have the worst price schemes of all digital services, how they have the worst client of all digital services with the most restrictions (at least you can finally install games on a different drive now, after only eight fucking years!), etc. etc. etc.

The difference is that Ubisoft games are easy to crack and easy to boycott. With Steam, you have tons of Steam-exclusives so that's harder to do. I usually end up getting it on CD key sites instead, so the profit for Steam/Valve is minimal and I never buy anything unless the price has dropped 75+% at the very least and nothing over $10.

But Ubisoft deserves a special spot for having the worst DRM in history and completely making up crap about piracy time and time again, failing to see all the mistakes they make and attacking PC gamers left and right. Valve may be cunts too, but at least they pretend to be decent folk (even if they're also greedy dicks who just know how to use good PR).

Something's not right for you. It takes me quicker to get playing FC3 than, say BF3 or DXHR.

I guess I'm lucky since I never had any problems with Steam (I was late to the party though), Origin and Uplay *knock on wood*. The always online DRM with AC2 was shit, but luckily they let that crap go.

From my personal experience Origin is by far the worst of the bunch. Uplay might have a weird fetish for spywares at times, and it's not exactly responsive, but at least doesn't fuck up my installation folders on monthly basis like Origin does. Laughing

Origin is a sack of shit...
Luckily it can be bypassed with a simple dll-file for BF3, so I don't even have to open it up.

I gotta admit, something as small as removing the minimap has changed my whole experience of the game. I didn't think it would but I actually am enjoying the game now. And I find myself getting lost at times too which is nice and makes it feel like Far Cry
