newest ENB from boris site with sweetfx proxied and tweaked skyrim ini = epic looks AND performance

been fiddling with ENB for months and always had the game look super but always lacked the performance, newest ENB changed that in a big way

Yeah that sounds great indeed, thanks for the heads up. Smile I've always wanted to use them but sadly in some areas the framerate was literally murdered (introducing annoying lag and stuttering everywhere etc). Would be cool if it was playable with DOF as well!

Nice settings Yondaime. Razz

This is the best that I managed to achieve with the old ENB:

The problem is, the game is almost unplayable at times, especially with all the graphical mods..and I'm definitely too lazy to configure everything again. xD

That looks ok for screenshots I guess, even though that DOF effect is really stupid in my opinion. While playing however, that looks terrible. I think I'll try to get more colors and better lighting in the game through proper mods when I'll try the game next time.

Might have been mentioned before, but is there a mod or tool that easily allows me to see which locations I haven't visited? Fancy at last finishing my save off.

There isn't a mod or tool that I know that will do this, however you can use the console, type: tmm 1,0,1

That should show all locations on the map, but you still can't fast travel to unvisited areas.

Thanks! Yeah, that looks exactly like what I'm trying to get with my settings. I had it looking like that with an older ENB as well, but I can't copy paste the settings to the new one so gotta tweak it myself all over again. Razz

But with the new one having an inbuilt gui, it's MUCH much easier and faster to do it. It works really well too, you just hold left click over an icon next to a command and roll the mouse either clock or counter clockwise to increase/decrease the value, also checkboxes for enabling/disabling commands. It's only for editing the enbseries.ini file though, but that's fine since that's where most of the tweaking occurs. ^^

*edit* Actually, do you remember/know what command you need to tweak to get that sparkling effect in the blurred/dofed background in your pics? I had it on my older one but I can't remember which one it is... Razz
*edit2* lol, I remember now, that's the bokeh effect of the dof. xD I must've somehow disabled that and now only have dof on. Razz - fixed Razz

Haha neat! The gui would save me a lot of troubles (but I'm still too lazy xD). I'll look into it in my spare time, albeit I'm quite satisfied even with my uber-old unoptimized config. Razz

As for the fov, I followed this http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1321699&mpage=1 (makes the changes permanent, instead of setting them every time..which is annoying indeed).

I've tried a couple of ENB's and i always get some kind of subtle artifact which is "burnt" into the screen. Anyone know what it could be?

Doesnt seem to be present with default 12.12.12 and his newest but on all others its there.. it's almost not noticable when standing still, but directly when moving you see those static lines and stuff, almost completetly transparent, probably would be hard to show in a screenshot.

Does it also smell like "burnt"? Could be your video card overheating.

Try and turn off SSAO and see if that works, it sounds like the type of artifacts you can get with that effect yet it also seems a bit different.
(A lot of presets overdo the SSAO effect and most haven't updated to the latest code either as far as I'm aware.)

EDIT: Bring down the console prompt and then toggle the in-game ENB settings editor and toggle each effect on and off and you should find the correct one.
(ENB 0.125 or the current 0.126 release which is even better.)

I'm on 0.126 now and i'm pretty happy with how it looks, no artifacts.. i just noticed that using the FPS limter makes the game a whole lot smoother, really big difference Smile Are there any must-have mouse tweaks, or has this been fixed in the more recent updates? Been modding for too long, time too play Wink

Other than turning off mouse smoothing in Skyrim.ini (Or was it SkyrimPrefs.ini?) I don't know of anything specific, using VSync or capping framerate at 60 or 59 might also be useful.
(Unsure if they ever fixed the physics system going at super speed if you had 100+ FPS - which you usually do when in interior locations with VSync disabled on a normal game configuration.)

As for mods the only thing I'd really recommend for everyone is the unofficial patches, rest is down to personal preferences. Smile
(That, plus cleaning Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm and Hearthfires.esm with TES5Edit and once the program is updated should such be needed then do the same to Dragonborn.esm when it's released for PC next month.)

Ok, thanks. I've capped framerate to 30, it actually feels a lot more smooth than when varying all the time from 45-60.. i was surprised of how much better it got.

Is this cleaning really recommended even for the official DLC's? Seems a bit strange that Bethesda would have left them like that.

For just using Skyrim and the official DLC then no it's not required for now, however if you use any other unofficial mods then yes it's recommended and if you use any larger mods it might even be required to get the game working fully stable.

Dawnguard and Hearthfire both have a number of "dirty" edits which can cause conflicts and at times they have even deleted a lot of existing stuff (Instead of marking it as hidden as is recommended - since Morrowind - to avoid problems.) which won't just cause a conflict, it'll cause the game to crash if another plugin tries to edit these.
(A script problem is about the only thing that's more problematic since it can corrupt the save or cause severe bloating.)

The main issue is with Hearthfire and Dawnguard both altering navmeshes from how I understood it since these can't be restored easily, Hearthfire deletes one in Breezerhome which has caused a lot of problems for mods editing that house and Dawnguard has edits in various areas throughout the game.
(The unofficial patches do help with fixing some of this but undeleting navmeshes is currently not yet possible so the DLC still cause some problems.)

Bethesda also does know about cleaning since they've gotten a lot of feedback about this from the community but usually they don't do anything about it, rarely they even patch DLC despite the various known issues.
(Only one exception and that was with Mehrunes Razor in Oblivion and only for the GOTY release, DLC marked the Daedric War Axe as deleted thus removing it from the entire game so they fixed that - but nothing else.)

EDIT: I don't fully remember the exact amount of references but undeleting content and removing identical to master for Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm and Hearthfires.esm should remove some hundred objects or such.

I'm not very good at explaining it but Skyrim works a bit differently from Oblivion so you have to be more careful with conflicts and mods interacting with each other, partially due to the papyrus script changes but also due to game engine changes.
(Lots of stuff gets left over in the save file, third update or which one it was improved this slightly but adding and removing mods often can still cause some problems.)

EDIT: Papyrus is otherwise quite robust as far as I know, it can get slow and cause some stuttering but it takes a lot for it to actually break.

I left skyrim for more than 6 months untouched.... Now i get back check mods, download immersive armors and weapons just to see what ? THAT EVERYTHING IN THOSE MODS IS WORSE THAN I HAVE

I mean seriously wtf is that, once you get daedric stuff you cant find anything better ??!?!?!?!?! You cant find any legendary and unique stuff from exploring cause everything will be shit compared to daedric, so basically after around 25 hours of gameplay 6 months ago I found all the good things and rest of 100 hours to play is just doing quest and collecting money for nothing ? This is just retarded
