I've seen it grow amidst the "underground" and it still looks like another horse shit cult to me. I also believe aleister crowley was a rich wacko. So far it's only popular amongst social rejects and the like.

I know enough not to compare it to the abrahamic religions but damn I just can't help but see that it only uses confusing language in order to build mystic
I've studied a lot of the scams in the world (politics, religion, cults, banking related etc) they use different tactics on different levels but this thelema stuff is still fairly new and it's not easy finding any objective criticism of it online.

Anyone care to shed some light?

There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

Yeah, hiero's new nickname was very deceiving. Laughing

Why was he banned in the first place? I liked his drawings - 'Meanwhile in the Humps' or that one with "Why you shit on my plate?'. They were really great! Very Happy

Well first of all , I wouldn't associate the members of the Thelemic orders such as Eclisiastica Gnostica, A.'.A.'. or more famously the O.T.O with "underground horse shit cults".Also the teachings of Thelema are actually quite old.

What would you more specifically want to know about it?

All I know about it is that it's a philosophy of life simply put is do what thou wilt. But I'm pretty sure there is a lot to it than that!
Especially that its members keep mentioning MAGICK and initiation rituals making you able to read secret symbols and all that! that's where I get lost and fail to see the point of it all

Get "The Middle Pillar" and "Tree of Life" written by Israel Regardie. He basically took all the secret teachings and published them for all to see since he thought it was unjust and ludicrous for a tiny elite to have access to the knowledge and teachings of western mysticism (within Golden Dawn). He was branded traitor by the Golden Dawn, which he didn't really care about. Internal squabbles in the Golden Dawn made it fall apart. New organisations popped up bringing with them the knowledge. Lodges like the Freemasons carry some of these teachings and rituals as well as their own unique stuff and have other goals.

The religious components are more about archetypes than faith. It's a kind of psychology with the aim to reach your higher self, the ultimate enlightenment.

Aleister Crowley left Golden Dawn and all that and created his own mysticism system including among other things sex magick and so on. He was obviously a very very eccentric and perhaps a little crazy as well, esp. in regards to the aiwass "incident".

It's a rather interesting topic with a LOT to learn since it's unlike anything else. Ultimately it's about devoting yourself to reach new levels of consciousness and awareness through rituals and teachings. The rituals are psychological tools that put your mind in a certain state where you're more receptive to the spiritual side of western mysticism.
