1C Company announces a partnership with 777 Studios (Rise of Flight: The First Great Air War) to form 1C Game Studios, a new developer that's now at work on IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad, a new installment in the IL-2 Sturmovik series of combat flight simulators. Here's a bit from the press release on the IL-2 Sturmovik Website discussing the partnership, PC gaming, and the game itself:
Both 1C and 777 Studios see the flight-simulation genre as an important one for PC gaming with a dedicated fan-base that is eager to support interesting and immersive products. 1C Company is located in Moscow with offices throughout Europe and 777 Studios is headquartered in Southern California with development teams in Russia and Ukraine.
Battle of Stalingrad will include both single-player and multi-player scenarios for virtual pilots to enjoy as well as brand new gameplay modes. Initial client release is slated for early 2014 with add-on content and additional features and theatres to follow.
Well, 1C/Maddox can fuck themselves. They dropped the support for this game, and there are still lots of issues. Also stock RAF campaign is crap, good thing we have modded one (REDUX).
Yet they are already making a new game, and after people got burned with CloD (it only took them 1 and half year to make it "playable" ), doubt they will give them cash so easily.
But 777 Studios and RoF, that's another story. Good game and great support, so maybe there is still hope for new IL-2.
Feature wise this game is crap compared to IL-2 1946 with mods.Much prefer the vast choices of aircraft and offline campaigns in multiple theaters.Ill take that over graphics.
Was reading this (it's basically the re-review of the game, after all the patches), it's still disappointing contents-wise but much better than before:
I have to chirp in here, but mods and the way the code was able to me um tweaked ruined the original untouched il2 1946
You must be on crack. Most of the great planes came out of the code that was cracked and that includes all the torpedo bombers Oleg and team were too lazy to produce. The excuse of copyrights was quite laughable.

im not on crack no, creating new aircraft came out of the FILE cracks yes, but it lead to a lot of cheating, thats all.

That's why you have JSGME to easily switch between vanilla/stock and modded IL-2. And all serious servers are CRT=2 enabled - so your files need to match the servers files (CRT compares flight models, damage models, and weapons models).
Maybe the original scene release + update 1 and then the 5 community patches in order? All the guides start by assuming a fully updated steam installation of the game.
EDIT: Nah, the versions don't match so the installation will be fucked up I think.

Then install Team Fusions fixes and updates = win.
It's live now, the fully modded version has become a separate game on Steam:
Quote:
As announced previously, 1CGS has partnered with Team Fusion Simulations to codify and improve their previous mod work and make it an official part of Dover. The result of that effort is now here!
All current owners of Cliffs of Dover Classic will receive BLITZ for FREE in their Steam Library starting today. You just need to install to play. It may already be there waiting for you. If you don't already own Cliffs of Dover you can purchase it from the Steam store.
To celebrate the launch, from December 14th until January 4th BLITZ will be on sale for 25% OFF. The regular price after the special will be $24.99.
What's Included?
Team Fusion has spent the past several years improving and fixing issues in the original Cliffs of Dover since its initial release. Their work has greatly improved performance and fixed serious issues. Earlier this year, 1CGS gave the source code to TFS allowing them to further improve the title. Their work is now officially a commercial product and no longer just a mod. Below is some of what is included in BLITZ.
