was so close to buying this today, so glad I didn't after coming back from X-Mas shopping and seeing all the negativity. Steam is misleading customers more and more nowadays,..
steam are cunts though for encouraging the practice of mis-selling goods . (games)
I can think of 2 occasions recently, off the top of my head where I feel I have been stung and I''m sure there are problems that exist with other games they are currently selling too.
Their standards have slipped pretty badly of late, and nowadays I am automatically inclined to think they put profits before any sense of a fair sale in regards to the customer, and there was a time when I didn't used to think like that.
They have gotten into a worryingly regular bad habit of putting out incomplete games, sometimes, some which are completely broken and unplayable. Through to just plain lying to the customer about what they are actually getting. "WarZ" being another prime example of the latter.
Sometimes games are released broken and it is understandable that it has nothing to do with Steam but with the developers themselves. However you would at least expect some measure of quality control with Steam (get some divvy Steam employee to maybe at least test a game they are selling), seeing as Gabe&Co. do not offer any refunds or concessions of ANY kind even when THEY fuck up. Has anyone read their T/C's recently?.
That interview...I don't think I have ever feel so much rage about a game that I never had any interest in. But this is appalling. I hope more bad press will be released and people will realize they are being scammed.
Most people know that they got scammed, but they didn't listen, even though they got warned. They're just too stubborn (or idiotic) to admit it and went on defense now.
What they don't get is that defending this makes them look even more stupid.
People just like to bitch and most don't do their homework. No doubt the Steam page was misleading, although those features are all planned. Hammerpoint has shown that they are shady as fuck, but I still think the game is pretty damn cool for the $20 survivor pack I bought. They should just admit they are wrong and move on. As long as they give the game quality support, I"m not gonna bitch. I don't like all the controls in DayZ, but War Z filled the role of an intense FPS survival horror game. As they add all the shit they promised, I think it will be worth the $20. I've really gotten that out of it already overall. Definitely a company to be weary of moving forward though.
I'm not surprised really, coming from the same guy that made Big Rigs. One of the worst games ever made. Check out the reviews on YT, they're pretty funny (or sad).
YOU'RE WINNER!
PS: The retail box apparently also contained lies about the actual game content, as shown in the Johnny vs. Big Rigs YT video:
Spoiler:
Quote from the video instills a feeling of deja vu: "I find it more appalling that this piece of shit actually was given the green light (/pun) and costs money to play".
Now I start to feel bad for everyone who bought it and will buy it. People like these shouldn't be supported and seeing this being a top seller is even more sad...
im one of the many who bought this in october even tho some of the ideas sounded daft to me ... the pay to win bit, the revive time on a character, but once i actually played the game i realised JUST how bad it is.. and its only getting worse, the whole feel to it with the small map and EVERYONE killing everyone else just makes it feel like a CoD clone set in a (small) sandbox world with zombies..was bad enough with the 1 hour revive timer.. but now upped to 4, coupled with the "pay us now and you can revive now" bit has totally put me off this game once and for all... ill just stick to playing DayZ
TLDR: i bought war Z back on alpha release, and to be honest it wasnt worth the money back then, before the timers and pay to win aspect - nevermind now.how it managed to get onto steam ill never know...or care

So wait, let me get this straight.
You buy the game (15€) and then you have to keep paying if you want them to revive you faster to be able to play?
And they deliberately changed it so they are sort of forcing you into it.
Yup, sounds fair to me.
